Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

Got these babies back from paint and got them mounted. And since by dumb luck the gunmetal matched the top, I two toned them with another red pinstripe. It's a small detail but I like how it ties together. https://i.imgur.com/ZQnOh9E.jpg https://i.imgur.com/SEJthDh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/01MJWRM.jp...

Re: Safe, sturdy places to put jack stands z26

Haha, my car usually spends waaaay more time on jackstands than that! I usually use the pinch weld or the subframe to support the weight. Just be careful when moving from one side to the other, because with one side raised it will teeter totter a little bit. But once both sides are done it should be...

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

The hung open valves were just recently when I put in the +.070 pushrods. I haven't been driving it like that. It was quickly apparent that it was not happy. Ben did say that not having enough preload can limit power. And with the lifters acting "solid" and making noise there is the possib...

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

Dropped these things off at the paint shop to get color matched. I can't be having chromey looking wheel hoops... And the center caps are junk. They're ugly as hell and didn't fit the axle stub, so I've got an idea up my sleeve. https://i.imgur.com/ND2KQ6G.jpg https://i.imgur.com/55Vacxu.jpg

Re: A Couple of Corrosion Questions

I'm not a fan of rubber undercoating. It causes more issues than it solves. The most effective solution to fight salt is a yearly dose of oil sprayed underneath. It's a mess, but I've had friends doing it with success. They oil the hell out of it and then fly down a dirt road to keep it stuck all wi...

Re: Z-26 3.4 DOHC Turbo

There is a "throttle follower" in the the tune that opens the IAC while the throttle opens and you're driving. That keeps the IAC from having to make sudden adjustments. I'd have to double check to be sure, but I think that works in conjunction with the VSS...that could be why. Why can't y...

Re: Z-26 3.4 DOHC Turbo

The idle is a little erratic -likely the old IAC still waking up- and I intend to bump the minimum idle set-screw out a tad to help compensate for the lack of an auto-trans -again, my GTU had a similar issue with stalling after a long in-gear deceleration as the IAC isn't quick enough to respond wh...

Mashed a bunch of drag videos together from this year. One is really cool where you can see Jay tree me and then I reel him back in. The shift light also looks good st night. Haha

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

Nah, definitely not solid for the DD car. Even the Camaro is gonna be hydraulic roller. To run enough cam to get the most out of them it wouldn't be very o2 sensor friendly. And that WOT cam is pretty tame. I had one rocker loosen up the first week I was driving it. Ben said it was likely due to the...

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

Yeah, it's too bad these goddam things aren't adjustable like my small blocks. All 3 I tested couldn't be disassembled. Been said he's only had a couple like that ever, and they were grungy ugly ones. Really strange. I even went over the process with him step by step in a video call just be sure we ...

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

Tried to fix all my 2018 problems in 2018, but this one is headed for 2019! https://i.imgur.com/giu5zf2.jpg Ben at WOT saw my post about drag racing and we got talking about AFR and timing etc to get the most MPH out of my combo. I brought up again how noisier than stock the lifters are even with th...

That's a lot of time, but it looks really good. I saw you post the 1" .120 wall and 1/2" bolts and I wondered what I was missing...

Also...my work bench ends up looking the same during a project. haha

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

Of course, the maiden loaded voyage wasn't even my car... My father sold his old house and had to get his Firebird out of there before closing.
