Re: Brake Pad Rattle
Before installation? Put the tabs in a vise and crank on it? Better than hammering them while in, I guess.1988GTU wrote:That is what you should do.Burning_Beard wrote: 3. Should I bend (ever so slightly) those tabs down on the pads? This is 1989 and we've been to outer space" silly.

Re: Brake Pad Rattle
Check the straightness of your rotor... If that wobbles at ALL during rotation it will push the pads further open or move the caliper in a position you don't want it in. Thing's that can cause the rotor to wobble are bad wheel bearings or something a miss on the hub. It started to happen last year ...

Re: Brake Pad Rattle
Are you sure you have the right pads? Never heard of a problem like this. Can you give us the brand and number of these pads? I want to specify this is only the drivers side pad. Pads that it first started with, from napa, no idea but theyve been on for around 3 years, with acdelco reman calipers. ...

Brake Pad Rattle
I've been thru 2 rotors, 2 reman calipers, and 3 sets of pads trying to fix this issue. The outer pad is loose and my car sounds like a trailer going over bumps. I've used that silicone gimmick to try to affix the pad better, no dice. My caliper pins are smooth and the caliper moves freely. There is...

Re: digital gauge bulb
I will correct myself. The 2 middle bulbs do serve the left and right sides of the speedo, but one will illuminate both sides. I noticed the right side was dimmer than the left at night. I pulled the right side led and bent the flange a little to make contact and now they are both the same. I'm pret...

Re: digital gauge bulb
I'll necrobump this thread with an actual solution. I had the two middle (out of 4 total) white based backlight bulbs blow on the digi dash last weekend. Thanks to DTMAce's and 3X00-Modified posts, I found a direct replacement for these at superbrightleds.com for $5 a piece. http://www.superbrightle...

Wanted: 89-90 OEM Radio, AM/FM, no cassette, with A/C
Condition unimportant, preferrably cheap and crappy looking, but it must work. It's for an internal aux in project I will be working on, and if sucessful, I'll share a writeup.
I don't even need the faceplate assemply+dials, just the am/fm radio.

Re: HEAR water
It's your heater core, possibly clogged or air in the system, or maybe a clogged a/c drain line if you have a/c. I don't think I've ever had a GM tht didn't do this at one point or another in it's life. Be happy you don't have a dexcool car.

Re: 1989 Chevrolet Beretta GTU
I had an 84 2M4 base with the duke and it was pretty quick. Suspension was really stiff. Bumpsteer was incredibly bad. I 360'd it on a freeway and stayed in my lane doing it, not on purpose I may add. It was a really big go kart. If I didn't accelerate into turns, the rear would get loose. It's prob...

God I hate Pataskala. If anyone looks at this car, get the suspension checked thoroughly. That town hasn't seen new asphalt since 1986.

Re: Which rims would you choose?
Rim 1, 3rd pic. But...I just hate open wheels with drum brakes. You gotta paint them, then everyones like, "nice painted 1950's technology drum, fella" then you feel bad and have to do a neon disc conversion. Any you have to keep your wells spotless. I can't for the life of me clean my whe...
