Re: what did you do to your ride today?

Not a Beretta, but I also took the Z-28 out for a short drive. Battery is weak from sitting too much, and I discovered that the replacement white-face gauges I put in the car have a faulty gas-gauge... Yep, ran dry a block from home, showing 1/8th of a tank... Z-28, nice! What year? That blows abou...

Re: Corsica misfiring after rain (nowadays problem with IAC valve)

The IAC should not be movable by hand -a TINY bit of wiggle is fine, but if you can move it freely in and out, it is broken. A Noid light (typically used for injector testing) can be used to verify ECM signal to the IAC valve -it operates on short pulses of 12V, forward of backward (two circuits, he...

Re: Radiator for a 1990 GTZ?

Good call, thanks Jon. I wasn't even sure Performance Radiator sold direct to the public -we used them almost exclusively at the shop, and had a commercial account with them. I just checked after reading the OP, and found that they at least made them still. Thanks for adding the direct link.

Re: Front hub fail

Try Bosch rotors too. Oreillys sells them (but seriously, get them from Rock Auto -look at the price difference). They DID offer a lifetime warranty -last year they switched to a three year. I bought them for several of my cars -some are installed, some are sitting in the boxes waiting to be needed....

What (scan) tools do you use?

It always interests me to know how other owners take care of their cars. With the age (and lets face it, relatively low economic value) of our cars, getting them repaired competently for a reasonable price is kind of difficult. Since our Berettas and Corsicas (and Tempests for those of us further No...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

Sorry no, I am positive the flywheel WON'T fit your crank -yes 3800s use an 8-bolt mounting pattern. BUT, the 3800 clutch-kit WILL bolt onto the flywheel for a 60-degree V-6. That Camaro flywheel IS thicker, as noted above in the 'Edit', by ~ 3/8 inch, so spacing the concentric slave closer to the f...

Re: what did you do to your ride today?

Worked on the Z-26 project. Spent WAY too much time surgically removing (spot-weld drill) the transmission mount from the frame. I should have just cut the b@$t@rd off! Not a Beretta, but I also took the Z-28 out for a short drive. Battery is weak from sitting too much, and I discovered that the rep...

Re: Finally...

Got the timing belt done yesterday -used the short-cut method for now. Not bad at all, and although my engine wasn't fully installed at the time, I think it will be doable by dropping the left sub-frame to allow the top right side of the engine to tilt away from the strut-tower. The belt drives noth...

Re: Radiator for a 1990 GTZ?

(just five months later...) For those in the need, Performance Radiator still makes them, they are ~as good or better (heck, probably the exact same) as Spectra Premium. We used A LOT of them at the shop, saw maybe one or two come back. JC Whitney distributes them, part #1042, also findable on ebay,...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

This is some awesome work. :good: Professional-level fab work along with the engineering skills equals Beretta greatness! I do have some experience mixing and matching 3rd and 4th gen F-Body stuff with the Berettas. The 3800 T-5 is WAY stronger than the 2.8/3.1 from a third-gen, mainly the input sha...

Re: Corsica misfiring after rain

- Safe? Atomized fuel spraying anywhere can be dangerous... If contained properly, with safeguards (like extinguisher) and common-sense, should be okay. Be careful not to let ANYTHING down the injector holes (or intake ducts, for that matter) in the manifold too, especially while cranking. Otherwise...

A 3.4 DOHC? are you insane... Jon, I thought by now you wouldn't have to ask... :P Hey, this is possibly one of the ultimate engine-swaps... Twenty years ago. I actually do agree, too much hype over them, but that also goes for the maintenance requirements as well as the performance. This car will ...

Re: Corsica misfiring after rain

Definitely be careful. Back in the day, I toasted both injectors on a TBI Police Special 5.7 Caprice detective car by pulsing them too long (multiple 1/4-1/2 second bursts). They were mechanically sticking and thus bad anyway, but it was still a bad way for their coils to go. One second is a HUGE du...

Sharp GA, welcome to the site. I have a '92 GA SE, same color as yours, no where near as nice though. Keep up the good work with that car. :good:
