Re: Ceramic vs semi metallic, does ceramic get hotter?

I appreciate everyones input! :) So far I havent noticed squeaking. Stopping power has still been rock solid. No brake fade at all either for freeway ramp stopping and slow downs. I'm still waiting to see how they behave on a 90'F+ day. Still cold where I am. I've always been using the best semi met...

Re: How to Begin Restoration??

Yep I seen auto catalog before. Usually only to check factory 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for random cars. And to see what they weigh. lol

Stencil: Is yours the blue one that I remember seeing that got or is getting fully stripped and redone? That car will be epic when its finished!

Re: How to Begin Restoration??

I think it was all in the tuning, I don't know if they made different cams. The exhaust on our venture was nothing special, aside from having a giant muffler which made it super quiet. To share my expierence; I did something similar some years ago with my 96 that I still have: I replaced my engine, ...

Re: How to Begin Restoration??

I suggest taking a look at the underneath and making sure it isnt rusting to much before going too far. This way you know you will have a car that you can enjoy for a long time after making it better. When you open your doors do you see any rust holes in the door james in the bottom front corners on...

Re: How to Begin Restoration??

I second the steel/rubber felpro lower intake gaskets. I have those on my 96 Beretta's 3100 engine. The plastic ones always get brittle and crack appart. Rettax3: I thought there was one other 3.4 DOHC swap someone started on a Beretta some years ago and they never finished/gave up? I know there are...

Re: How to Begin Restoration??

There is the 3.4 DOHC and the 3400 SFI. The 3400 SFI looks like the 3100 SFI. and the intake is swappable from the 3100 SFI to the 3400 SFI. Below is a photo of each: The 3400 SFI: (Code: LA1; Gen 3 v6) 67678080.jpg The 3.4 DOHC: (Code: LQ1; Gen 2 v6) 70191517.jpg Wiki page has more info: [url]https...

Re: How to Begin Restoration??

This site is good for finding used auto parts: http://www.car-part.com Just be careful though. Sometimes it can be hit or miss with used engines. Even low mileage ones. There is also the option to buy a new 3100 long block and swap the intake, oil pan, and sensors after cleaning them up. I agree tha...

Re: How to Begin Restoration??

I agree that the money spent trying to restore it could easily be the same or more than what it would cost to find a nice one. It depends on how far you want to go with the restoration and what all you plan on doing. If anything needs replaced it might be a lot of custom work. There are places that ...

Re: My Beretta's! :)

Man, I am in love! My Yellow Indy isn't bad for what I paid for it, but it is a driver -yours is a collector's piece, for certain. And your GTZ is gorgeous. '90 is my favorite year for Berettas (half of mine are that vintage  ). I still want a '90 GTZ -somehow I think that will round-out my c...

Re: What (scan) tools do you use?

So just the obd1 cable to usb/something similar is enough for datalogging? What sw I need? What kind of things can be programmed in these ecus? For just the cable I'm not sure. With the full APU1 the ECM can be programmed. Spark and fuel tables, fan cycle settings, etc. This uses Tuner Pro RT softw...

Re: What (scan) tools do you use?

Yah my APU1 also can emulate and read/write rom files to the chips.
I forgot there is probably a lesser expensive version that can read codes and data log without the chip stuff but I never looked into those.

Re: What (scan) tools do you use?

I used the "APU1" from moates.net with tuner pro and logging files for my OBD1 GM cars. Works with laptop over USB. I used the "Blue Driver" for all 1996 and up OBD2 and newer cars. Work with my android phone over Bluetooth. Can do a very large range of functions and tests and cl...

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: The Derretta, 1994 base with some attitude.

Are you positive the new ECM is good? Can't find any issues with the wiring? Jon mentioned on Facebook that it may be a corrupt tune file that's killing the ECM's, it makes sense. I put the tune in the new ECM, then can't connect anymore... I ordered another ECM, I should be seeing it in a week. I ...

Does that little spring go in series with the big spring? O_o
I feel like that little spring would be flattened if that's the case.
