Anyone here from Atlantic Canada? Interested in a '94 Z26?

 Well, I hate to do it, but I am considering selling my baby, a 1994 Z26 with Quad4HO and 5 speed. Only something like 900 of them made in this configuration. I don't want to, I'm pretty attached to it, but I haven't done anything with it in quite a while and I could use the space in my garage....

Re: 94 Quad 4 starting/idle problems

Thanks for the tip 3X00, I tried grounding the serial pin to a nearby screwhead but that didnt seem to work either... Fwiw, it was a kickpanel screw so not even 100% sure it screws into a suitable ground or not though, i just tried it quickly before leaving for work.

Re: 94 Quad 4 starting/idle problems

The paperclip trick does not work with this car. I've owned about 6 OBD1 chevs in the past, trust me that's the first thing I tried! It's still running great right now, and mileage has returned to normal. I might check a few things and reset the comp again and see what happens, but I know it's not a...

Re: 94 Quad 4 starting/idle problems

Well seems I jumped the gun a little.... CEL is still coming back, however it still works flawlessly. After i changed the CTS I unhooked the battery for a bit to reset the computer, then started it up and let it idle for a good 10-15 mins, to do the idle relearn... After this time had passed, the fa...

Re: 94 Quad 4 starting/idle problems

Changed the temp sensor this afternoon and the car works like a CHAMP! No CEL, no stumbling, nothing! Such a relief, its been giving me a headache for over a month. And to clarify about my cat, it was not clogged with gunk but the honeycomb had broken up and the larger pieces that couldn't get out l...

Re: 94 Quad 4 starting/idle problems

Well actually my cat was surprisingly UNclogged as well... It was nice and open through the honeycomb with only very minor residue/carbon/whatever on the front face of it... It just decided it was time to come apart, whether age or the current problems (or both) were the culprit. For SOME reason, it...

Re: 94 Quad 4 starting/idle problems

Well after not touching the car all weekend, I finally got a chance to go get the codes read today. It had the following codes stored (Key on, before starting): 13 O2 sensor circuit open or no activity 15 Engine coolant temp sensor error (low temp indicated) 44 Oxygen sensor error (lean condition in...

Re: 94 Quad 4 starting/idle problems

Definitely no schrader valve on mine... I haven't even looked at the car today, I work nights and sleep a lot through the day. My weekend starts at 3:30AM tonight so I plan to go at it tomorrow. Gonna take it to get the codes read, and depending on the outcome of that, I might get him to check the F...

Re: 94 Quad 4 starting/idle problems

Well my cat shouldn't clog up again, I punched it out weeks ago when i first discovered it was plugged.... it had broken up inside and the bigger pieces plugged up the outlet.... but i agree, something had to ruin the cat in the first place. I changed the O2 sensor today and it didn't make hardly a ...

Re: 94 Quad 4 starting/idle problems

Ok I checked the voltage on the O2 after warming up the car a bit and all I'm getting is .05V +/- .01... Called around some parts stores and I could get a Delphi for ~27 bucks, a Bosch for ~30+, or an NGK for ~40 bucks. Which of these 3 is best? I assume not the el cheapo delphi unit, and everyone t...

Got a couple more to check, but I'm lookin! And I just gotta go to Napa or carquest or something to get the boots, Canadian Tire j...

Re: 94 Quad 4 starting/idle problems

Well after driving it to work a couple times, I have come to the conclusion that I kinda like the decel braaaap when shifting, but that hollow cat has GOT TO go. Can't stand that hollow sound, sounds terrible and kinda like an old VW lol. My truck has a 360 with hollow cat and glasspack and it sound...

Re: 94 Quad 4 starting/idle problems

Forgot to mention, I did reset the ECM while changing the plugs, but still get the CEL. Left the battery unhooked for a good half hour while the car cooled off. I guess I'm gonna have to take it somewhere to get the codes read
