Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

FYI: the throwout bearing on these cars fits perfectly when installed backwards... just doesnt function too well. The little U-stamp on the ears is apparently just for strength and has nothing to do with holding the TOB on the fork. If I had actually thought about it I would have realized the spinni...

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

TOB is fucked. So is the clutch fork shaft. I think the pressure plate, flywheel & disc are ok, but I'm having trouble getting replacements for the TOB & fork ASAP. Looks like Tiffany's POS Subaru will be at Bfest this year. I'd like to know how the hell I misaligned the TOB when installing ...

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

Pretty sure I figured out the squeal! I have a strong suspicion the throwout bearing just grenaded on me. I had issues with the clutch not disengaging going up a hill so I tried to bleed the hydraulics. I got a couple bubbles but nothing really to mention. I decided to see if it was an issue just on...

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

Yeah, 2 qts of Syncromesh. It could actually use more. It is just under OK on the dipstick. It doesnt make noise in gear when moving, so I'm thinking TOB. The one I have is brand new from SPEC. I dont know why there would be an issue, but I think that's probably what it is. I found out today my heat...

Re: Fuel Pressure Woes...

Wow, that is hella different than the Walbro that came with my 91.

This is a strange problem. With 60psi you would think it would lite very easily, cold or hot.

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

So with both gaskets in place, it cant be from a leak at the tube if the EGR solenoid is closed. Ok, damn.

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

Wouldnt it be hilarious if your A/C compressor clutch started squealing today? It would serve you right! I dont have a vac gauge on this car, but I could grab the one off the Camaro or even maybe a handheld one. How many inches should it read at idle and at what rpm? I could also put some welding vi...

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

It's not P/S or A/C clutch, it is clutch related. The pitch changes when engaged & disengaged. I checked the P/S fluid and it was bubbly, so I had a little more dicking around to do with it. I dont think the chip should be set for a high idle, I can ask Dave. I did look for a vacuum leak and did...

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

Drove it out of the garage tonight! http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=58869960 Have to do a bunch of little things like get the power steering fluid circulating, figure out my squeal (throwout bearing?), figure out why my seat wont lock in position (it slides b...

Re: easiest power upgrade

The downpipe is a HUGE difference... and even more so with a 3400 rear manifold. I went to headers so I have a rear manifold if you want it.

Re: HAS ANY BODY ELSE DONE THIS WITH THIER BERETTA???

That is gay as AIDS man. Wow. haha It looks like you did a decent job with it though. I need to do mine in black. I've always just laid my sunroof between the back seat and the console when I had my 90. This car is almost like going back in time for me in some ways... sunroof, 5spd & Z04 seats. ...
