Re: How bad is replacing the plug wires on a 96 z26?
No need to lift the car. There is enough space to reach behind and change the wires. Removing the alternator also helps make space to reach. The haynes manual says it's best to as it's very easy. It was the same thing with my deville. I don't see why anyone would want to go from under the car on a ...

Re: How bad is replacing the plug wires on a 96 z26?
Yah I never remove the alternator either. Only once because the car was hot from running. lol. I second the dielectric grease. Just a small amount. To much will cause the wires to not go on easily. Might be good to do plugs too if the wires need done. Extensions and a universal will reach the back 3...

Re: Which car would be more reliable?
Thanks for your expierences. I decided my 96 will be the better choice for reliability.
Plus I thought about it and I dont really want to load the gtz with miles just yet.
Took the 96 for sale posts down so Ill be keeping it again.

Re: Which car would be more reliable?
I did not realize the mount had to come off for a head gasket on the quad4. I knew the side cover had to come off but I forgot there was a mount there as well. I think the 96 would be the better choice for now as far as reliability. Not sure about the black paint though. It might be an oven. I'll le...

Re: Which car would be more reliable?
Yah some second thoughts. The sunbird was easier to let go of. Those are all good points. I'll have to think about this some more. I wonder if I should cary a spare oil pump and oil pan gasket. Or maybe a head gasket and timing cover gaskets. How hard is it to do a head gasket on a quad? I know the ...

Which car would be more reliable?
1990 Beretta GTZ - QUAD4 - 5 speed manual 1996 Beretta Z26 - 3100 SFI - Auto 4T60e Both cars are rust free and have no issues, up to date on all maintnence. Both cars have their flaws corrected, such as the 3100's LIM gasket, and the QUAD4's oil pump. Which would you pick to do a cross country trip,...

Re: 95 Beretta Z26 on ebay
Nice find, car looks salvageable... I like my 105k mile '95 Z a whole lot better for the $400 I got it for but... :D I really liked that 'Title may be available', yeah, and the winning bidder may actually pay for the car too. :) And I know that when I sell a car, I always leave grass-clippings and ...

Re: Dome light removal to replace head liner?
Just a side question. Is there a reference number for the grey color for the 1996 Beretta headliner? The place I went to has everything except the matching grey. Worst case I can't find it and I take some off the asking price when someone looks at the car, but I'm hoping I can get the proper color a...

Re: What kind of muffler do you have?
I had a Super Turbo on my quad and hated it. But that had no cat either. I like my Dynomax VT on the 3400. Mostly quiet until you hammer on it and the valve opens. But the valve lets out tiny little farts at idle. Probably from me modifying it when it rusted to be sort of half fiberglass, half cham...

Re: RE: Re: What kind of muffler do you have?
These days I'm more partial towards quieter exhaust. I'm considering getting a 96 Beretta base muffler and putting it on my 90 gtz because it works very well for silencing the 3100 SFI engine, its exhaust makes no noise. I don't think airflow will be an issue at all. Have you considered a Dynomax S...
