Re: Stink bugs!

Our country has imported Chinese stink bugs and it's that time of year when they look for winter shelter. They stink a bit but not like skunk. It's smell is kind of like rancid oil with pine. I was working on my 88 when I kept smelling the bug's smell. I look down into the alternator and this littl...

Re: The '90s called...

Damnnnnnn... Save that NV4500, they're hard to find! I wanted to. I hadn't bothered to cancel the full coverage on the truck, I had a lien on it to pay for a new roof on my house. I paid the loan off a couple months ago but it still had the full coverage when this happened. State farm offered $3900...

Re: The '90s called...

Oh man, sorry you wrecked your truck. The truck looked solid, not much rust that I can see. But you weren't hurt so that is the most important thing. Also, no ticket from the cops for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident? It was, unbelievably solid for a Midwest truck. It spent most of it's...

Fairwell to one of my '90s fleet

I'm resurrecting this thread since I have to send my awesome '93 GMC to the shredder. Damn. Miss it already, rowing the gears in the NV4500 with that torquey ol' TBI 350. I was on my way home from work on Sept 24th, it had been raining and I guess I was taking the curve too fast. Hydroplaned and the...

Re: From backyard to Berettafest

20180916_115208.jpg :D so, I bought my first Beretta in 1999, when I was still a teenager. Dressed it up, but a year later it got totalled. 17 years later, I decided to live my youth again, researched online and found the exact same car in Ohio! After a 12 hour drive, I picked it up and took it bac...

Re: Back to Berettas after 15+ years

Sounds just like the way my old 88 behaved years ago before the 3T40 completly lost Reverse then several weeks after I lost Drive and then nothing worked. Then I did a used transmission swap because a rebuild wasnt worth the money for it. Then the rust got to bad and I junked it because it wasnt as...

Cleaned up from the road trip

Finally got a bath after our 1500 or so mile trip attending a destination wedding and then on to the beach after that. Once we reached the wedding venue in Asheville, I thought for sure the trans was cooked. We had just exited the freeway after 450 miles, and then the wedding venue was up this insan...

Re: My Berettas and Stuff :)

The headliner looks great and it does match the seats! Did you have an upholstery shop do it?
Somehow my factory '93 headliner is holding on, I hope it stays that way.

Re: NC road trip to pick up my pickup

That thing rocks. I love that era of gm trucks, mines much like it but only 2wd unfortunately.

Still fun, 3.73 rear w/nv4500.

Ready for vacay with my vintage Hastings AF

I completed my pre-flight checklist now that I have my RA closeout $1.79 Hastings Casite air filter installed. You'd think I would avoid the closeouts after the strut debacle, but I figure an air filter is pretty safe. Wonder how old this thing is? Made in USA so that's cool. I was a stockperson at ...

Re: "Routine maintenance" turns in to no-start!

Good stories everyone, and I can relate. She's still running fine, I got some spare fuses, a set of tools, and hell I'm going to pack my OBD1 scanner too. No spare ecm though, my parts collection is sparse. Heading out Friday morning. I live in a world where the beretta is the most reliable vehicle ...

Re: AC R12 or R134?

There should be a factory sticker which states what type of refrigerant you have in the car. But yes look for the type of fitting you have if the sticker is missing. You can retrofit an r12 system with r134 but when I did mine, I was instructed to add pag oil as well, because r134 will not mix with...

Re: "Routine maintenance" turns in to no-start!

This is one of the craziest electrical issues I have experienced, and a good example of how one thing leads to another, so I had to share: we are taking the Beretta on vacation in a couple weeks so it was oil change time. I had never put plug wires on it since I've owned it, so I figured that would...
