tranny probs

Your tranny is screwed.  Sounds like you blew out the sprag, and if you did the tranny is most likely not rebuildable because they tend to shred the casing.  Or you burnt/seized a couple sets of clutch packs.

88 beretta gt problems

Your engine problem could be a simple vaccuum leak, and the tranny sounds like it is either very low on fluid or your clutch packs are badly worn.  Does your tranny lock out a gear every now and then?  If it does you probably blew the sprag.

Amp problems now....

Is your amp a Kenwood, or a Alpine V12.  Because they are notorious for over loading the circuit board, when using improper/unmatched impediance.

Amp problems now....

If the sub is blown you will be able to feel it when pushing on the cone.
When the amp cuts out the bass control, is it abnormally warm to touch?

Cat free?

(Twitch21 @ Oct. 29 2006,10:45)QUOTEWell I've been having exhaust problems lately and I'm thinking of knocking the cat off entirely when I take it in to get repaired and throwing on straight pipes. Yes it is legal here, surprisingly so it is a good idea? Or will it cause more problems off than on? ...

Muffler Placement

The further the muffler is from the tail pipe, will increase the audible sound the exhaust produces(the louder it will become), And the more bends you have the more rasp it will have.
