Re: Head questions.

Replace the cracked cam tower. Just be sure to use a HO cam tower Cam tower = cam housing, right? I don't recall that the H.O. housing was any different than the L.O. (Normal) Quad cam housing. The cam is different, yes, and I don't know that it would be a good idea to replace just the upper half o...

Re: Aldl(obd1) to obd2

Pretty much what you said, wiring harness and ECM (PCM). '96 is the only OBD2 year for the L-Bodies, so that narrows it down for you, although other 3X00 computers should work. You will also need the injectors that the OBD2 PCM thinks it should be running, and if you are going to keep your 2.8/3-spe...

Re: WTB: 3400 TB

Pretty sure I have a 2000+ 3400 TB from an Impala... PM me your ZIP and a fair offer (include shipping, I'll figure it out from here), I'll make sure I have it and can send or post a pic. PayPal? Or?

Hmm, I should have posted this up last year... Very good seller -bought a set of side-markers from him, exactly as advertised, fair price, fast shipping, no hassles, just a real person conducting personalized business. A+, Thank You!

Re: Digital Horsepower. Pennsylvania 16870

It came with a bunch that I had... If I had an ecu to test read I could tell you if it's possible. I'll check when I get home in the DB to see the full list of osid's supported then you can search that against engine application. :good: Thanks. I do have a spare ECM for that car -I honestly don't r...

Re: Digital Horsepower. Pennsylvania 16870

IIRC DHP was a V6 operation only. Your best bet is probably HP Tuners unfortunately. :bad: Bleh! I have an alternate idea for tuning the LD9, if I need to go that way. Fortunately, I also have everything I need to do it, and it won't cost me anything but time, if it works right -otherwise I suppose...

Re: Digital Horsepower. Pennsylvania 16870

PM sent. I will keep looking for answers to my questions, but my main question, if anyone here knows for sure if this can be used on a pre-00 LD9 Twin-Cam ECM? I know this is really the wrong site for that engine, but...

Re: To rebuild or not to rebuild? Thats the dilemma!

Head gaskets don't typically leak oil out badly on these engines, but it is certainly possible. Your valve-cover gaskets are seeping badly though. Probably the crankshaft front and rear oil-seals could use replacements too. It isn't too late to perform a compression-test at all. Put some oil back in...

Re: To rebuild or not to rebuild? Thats the dilemma!

Your mileage isn't that high, although it does look like the engine has been neglected a little. Still, unless you have a particular reason to pull the heads off and mess with either the valves or the pistons (and ridge-ream the cylinders themselves), I wouldn't necessarily invest the money and time...

Re: Tuning-up a Mopar van sucks. I miss my Berettas already

I really do like this van -we have had it for a few years now. It was owned by another family member since new, but a shop down in Florida did a fluid top-off to it. That shop sponsored a race-car, I hear, and some dolt mixed DOT-5 brake-fluid in as the 'top-off'. The DOT-5 is silicon-based, and it ...

Re: Old time member returning

I don't have any new pics of the V-8 Indy. Here are the old ones from before I took it home. It is an original five-speed digi-dash car. Most likely, I will re-paint the car in black with teal accents and custom teal Indy decals. It also has a Fiero GT Wing spoiler, which doesn't look bad on the car...

Re: Old time member returning

I did a full write-up on the 3800 swap back on the bstuff site, which is gone now, and I had it all stored on my old computer, which was stolen about two years ago. I can answer questions for people on it, but basically I proved the swap could be done with the tools necessary for any engine swap, a ...

Re: Tuning-up a Mopar van sucks. I miss my Berettas already

I never heard of strut-tower issues on these before -mark up another thing to look out for. Usually it is transmission issues that end them. I still want to see if a 5-speed from a Duster or a Shadow V-6 car might bolt-up to my engine -then I can fab some mounts, a shift-assembly tower, and a clutch...

Tuning-up a Mopar van sucks. I miss my Berettas already.

As if I didn't have enough to do just working on the Berettas... My late-nineties Mopar mini-van (actually quite big by the old 'mini-van' standard I was originally introduced to back in the day, as mine can take a full 4'x8' sheet of plywood in the back, if I drop the rear seats out) has bee...
