im curious..as aggressive as some of the higher end berettas (GTZ/U, Z26, etc) and after market body kits look...would flip-out headlights work, or at least be attemptable on our cars? we have the option to get a solid grille, and to maybe find a similar shaped headlight assembly from some car thats flippable, would really make the beretta stand out, i think.

how difficult, realistically, is it to make a mod like this? i mean, if the older model fords like thunderbirds or maybe it was mercurys(?) did it, could we do it to ours with little to no cutting to the actual car? i would think it might not be TOO difficult, aside from finding slim enough lights, and aquiring the motors to drive the lights, and obviously the wiring maybe from the donor car...

might this be a legit possibility, or just another sad pipe dream?

You know it can be done.  You'd have to trial & error it to make it work.  It's not going to be perfect teh first time around, but I think with time, effort, & lot of research...  It can be done fairly cheap.  I personally would just make a black lense slide down & up.  If you dont want a black lense, then paint it to your liking.

Just a couple of pennies.

a guy asked if i had any drawings on bstuff, so i copy/pasted from there..........

i dunno, maybe somethin like this quick photochop?

im figuring this might end up having to have a custom formed "backside" to the lights...20-22 gauge steel could fairly easily be bent to match the flow of the current shape with the lights, or even the grille...

im not saying i am doing this job myself, im curious if it would be worth it for any of us who might have gears in our heads turning now, and if theres enough room in the hellhole behind the lights for the motor, actualtors, or whatever the lights on cars with flip-lights would have...firebirds, vettes, and other gm cars have 'em, but their differently designed, like..their dimensions are too boxy, but what im thinking is KINDA like what they have....but slimmer...instead of, say a 6x8 inch headlight, ours would be more like...what...12x5 inches or so? (not sure of headlight dimensions...never really thought about it)

edit: im thinking the lights might flip down, so they face the street when not in use...and the plastic cover on top of the radiator support area might have to be cut for room for the light assembly, but its not entirely that difficult it seems....

folks with DRL's might not be able to do it, but i dont know much about the later year rettas....

Ya know... In thinking about it, and recalling what I had for this last year... One of the older olds mobiles Trofeo ? maybe, I'm not sure which one had the complete header panel KINDA like a billiet grill on trucks now, where they had these aluminum (maybe it was plastic) lines running from one fender to the other, and then the headlight covers would just slide down if I remember right. Someone wmay could try retro fitting one of those panels grille and all on a beretta and see how it works ?.
