Finally After 7 Years!

Post by 90GTZHO »

So today finally after 7 years of not having it with this car, i got the windows tinted today. I went with 20% all around except the rear window and a 5% strip across the windshield :Yahoo!:

Image

Only window that didnt get done was the infamous rear window. The guy that did my windows has a shop down in Phoenix and he came up to do my windows. He had such a hard time with the rear window, i told hime to just do the sides and visor strip and we'll worry about the back window later. Hes only been tinting for 5 years and this is the first Beretta he has ever seen. Hes gonna talk to his boss (who has been tinting for 28 years) and find out the trick and come back and do it later on.

All in all, im very happy and i think it adds a whole new look to the car :D

I plan to do tint in the next week or so I am really excited after seeing some more cars with it. The guy thats doing mine also said it is a really hard back window to do but for 165 its the best deal in town.

Yeah, i thought that might throw everyone for a loop. But hey, when she gets painted a solid color, its gonna have a rather bold faced title lol

I have yet to see a back window tint on these cars that actually did turn out good. I know the defroster lines cause some problems, as does the overall shape.

The trick is two pieces. It's not the defroster, its the shape combined with the matrix bumps. My white GTZ has an amazing tint job, and the back window is about as nice as it can possibly get.

Was it done all in one peice? And when you people had them tinted, did they do one sheet to the bottom defrost line, then another sheet at the very bottom?

Mine is on piece... Find a talented tinter and they can do it in one. Unfortunately yes at the top where the matrix is the only thing you can do there is hope it sticks well, and if it doesn't the best alternative is to stop the tint right there and just do a vinyl black strip across the top. There is no way to make tint conform to all of those dots and the vinyl is the only thing that will.

I got lucky and mine has stayed in place across the top with no issues, its not 100% stuck to the glass either looking from the outside because the film will not stretch like that and get in all the little crevices.

I thought you got it painted too. haha

The tint on my back window right now blows. I had the same guy who did my other Berettas do it and he said he had a hell of a time with it this round. Every other time has been great.

I read up on a trick for the dot matrix too. You can actually glue the tint to the matrix and there are no air bubbles visible from the outside and it looks tits. Unfortunately it is about impossible to remove cleanly and causes issues if it needs to come off later. I may try this for shits & gigs when the back window gets redone.
