First CLEAR 3rd Brakelight for GT/GTZ spolier

Post by GTZfan »

I've been thinking about that for a long time and apparently it is a long term project - since I had restored my quaser GTZ. But today I brought it to the next step: The lens is about finished.

I am talking about the first ever (correct me if I am wrong) CLEAR 3rd Brakelight for the GT/GTZ spoiler.
The lens is a fragment of a broken upper clear filler panel. It was already tons of work to bring it into the shape it is now. The good part is that the radius is the same as the spoiler. The difficult thing is going to be how to mount it in there - I have some ideas and will be triying that as a next step.
Another unsolved thing is if I am going to make a custom housing with the LEDs inside to make it a complete unit or mount the LED unit seperately to the spoiler.

Anyways, here is how it should gonna look like...

Nice work. Keep in mind, this looks to be a Z04 style mostly found on GTZ and Z26. Am I mistaken, or is the textured side facing out? Interesting, usually you want the smooth side out.

Anyway, will be keeping an eye on this project.

Well it is for the GTZ of course (not owning a GT). But the GT spoiler is the same as far as I know. Is it missing the 3rd brakelight??

Anyways the flat side of the lens is facing out. Check the reflections on the lens (2nd photo).

Looks good! Seeing it on your black spoiler... That makes me want to make one for the black Z. Awesome man!
