Any large brake kits still available?

Want some new struts? What brand springs to buy? How much camber to run? What brake pads? What's the best setup for your situation....

Any large brake kits still available?

Post by DanteGTZ »

Just out of curious, are any of the major mfgrs still making kits for our cars? Did a quick search and didn't see anything from Wilwood, Baer, SSBC or anyone else. Looking to go big on the GTZ.

With slight mods, you could go the ole Neon path. Then you are somewhat open to their aftermarket sources.

Willwood still sells there kit for the cavalier... Which fits our cars. And so does Baer...

The issue is the size of the kit and it fitting behind our wheels...Maybe the smaller Baer kit would but I know the willwood will not fit.

Willwood actually says it's kit 140-8423-DR will fit 15" wheels.

No?

Is the 95+ Cavalier/Sunfire kit a bolt on kit for our cars? I can't seem to find anything for the Beretta or the 94- Cavalier from Wilwood... I have some 17" wheels so that won't be a problem.

I would bet you probably have to chop the stock caliper ears off like you do with their Camaro kits, but the Wilwood kit is designed for our stock brake setup. I didn't know Baer made a kit.

Baer kits require sending in the knuckle to be modded or they just send you jbody knuckles modded already and you have to cut off the tierod end. And yes willwood just requires the knuckle ear to be cut off.

Nothing was ever listed for a beretta that's why you can't find those listings. 95+ Cavy is what fits our setups/bearing and caliper design.

Wilwood fit's some 15's but the offset is the issue. Will not fit our stock 16s either. Very nice kit tho and worth every penny I spent on it.

How wide a spacer would you require to fit a GTZ or GTU wheel on?

Or is it even possible/safe to do so?

I know for my GTU wheels it would've required too large a spacer to be safe but that was due to the wheels design. Can't really speak to the GTZ wheel.
