Hi everyone
I snapped my control arm last week (ill post some pics). I now have replaced it but i think it might have hurt some other parts when it happened and wanted to know what everyone’s thoughts on it.
Thanks

only other parts that could have been hurt would be axle, strut mount, and tierod.... And well fender depending on if this happened while moving or not.

how did you manage to snap a control arm? Those are built to last... The bolts should have snapped first.

Yeah, the driver's control arm on my 95 was ready to go any day... Rust is the devil.

Rust... DURRRRR!

RAWR! Smartass!

I've NEVER seen this happen. I've seen the bolts snap from rust first, or the ball joint fall apart. Never the actual control arm....

Seem to recall someone else having the same thing happen to them a year ago. And I have seen pics of the rot the arms can get. No pretty.

Happened to my Ex's sisters corsica, the control arm split right in line with where the sway bar attaches... Responded just like a ball joint failure and the wheel went back and bent the hell out of the left front fender, Pulled the axle apart and all that jazz... I have pics somewhere.

On my Beretta one of them snapped on me and the other one was cracked and going to do the same thing.

They both were cracked right where the sway bar is, if I were anyone here I would get the wheels off and check them.

(mod note - combined two posts into one, and fixed some misspelled words. )

Wow the rust didn't look all that bad and it broke. That puts alot of fear in me. I just got some used ones and need to check them out(Car Part.com). Dang wish I still had that 90GT. Those things had only spots do to all the oil leaks(lol).

Dang Rex 2.0 looks like it bent at one of the welds. Do you think it would have bent there anyway? Just asking because I'm thinking about welding the "new" ones.
