Yet Another Strut Tower Bar Question

Post by RaNDoMxGeSTuReS »

I went to the local junkyard today and found a strut tower bar off a old Cavalier RS; perfect fit. I also pulled off some cross bars from a Z34 Lumina. I read the little how-to on the beretta.net page, but need some more assistance. Oh and I bought a torque wrench yay !!

Now my problem is this big 'ol tube on the passenger side of the engine.

It's pretty much blocking the left side of the bar from mounting properly. Do I move this? How do I move it? What do I do.. or can I force it out of the way with the bar. Not sure, folks. Here's a bigger view.

And if anyone has a remote clue how to install the side brace things I'd love you forever I've seen it on a L67/3800 Beretta on Cardomain, and was wondering if you guys knew anything. Thanks again.

Ok, that "Tube" is actually your main engine wiring harness.  All you have to do is shove it down or back out of the way.

As for the other braces. I have not installed those so I couldn't help you there.

Thanks! The paint is dry now. The weather is freezing. I'll have to wait until I get off work tomorrow to pop them on.

You have to drill holes to mount the other 2 to the radiator support.

Alright I got the strut tower bar on. Everything is all torqued. I sorta pushed doown the wires and what happened was the plastic broke off it.

As far as the crossbars.. where do I drill and mount? I'm so confused.. one part seems longer than the other.. do I drill the sheet metal or the crossbar.. and can I use the stock bolts from the Z34?

Guys, I've been thinking about getting coloured hoses. Anyone know a good place where I can get them or measurements? I've been surfing the net and couldn't really find stuff--just Eclipse things. Red hoses I think would look best.

Painted the 3100 SFI on the block. Think I did a pretty bad job though the paint dripped :-( damn viscosity.

when you say colored hoses do you mean wire loom? If so Jegs and Summit carry it.

That stuff is also called convoluted tubing. We use it at work for wiring harnesses in our vending machines. They make the split kind (which is the kind under the hood of your car) as well as non-split type.

O'Reilly's carries it, and you can probably also find it at Radio Shack, if need be. They make it in all different diameters. It is usually packaged in 6' lengths.

I think a clean engine bay with OEM black hoses, in good condition. along with the right clamps is hard to beat.

You can really get silly with all that colored stuff, and it ends up looking stupid.
