Your running the shitty undersized stock fronts... how about upgrading to a front disc solution that will handle your abuse. I will assure you then you won't be complaining.

Yeah i have the N-bodys up front and they nose dive the car like a mofo if i lock em up. I cant wait to get the rear discs installed. Wish i could have had it done for bfest :(

Either way, I full agree with Jon here. The stockers with the rear disc, your wasting your time almost. You need the largers in the front with the rear disc to take full advantage of them at all 4. From what i understand, Jon was running F-bodys up front with rear disc and didnt have any issues other than loosing time at the track. So we know the stock masters will provide the amount of pressure needed for the swap.

I don't think front brakes will help. More braking up front will screw me more.

Abs is saving Jon

Just downshift thats slows me down.I've been debating doing something more for brakes. This time next year i should have another 50whp.So maybe a good time for a change.

How is abs saving me? I've never heard it activate while driving. And your bitchin about using up your front pads... upgrading to something that can handle it will eliminate that.

This is something I'm looking to do very soon. I just want clarification. The larger 11.25" Daytona setup is still bolt on like the Neon setup? Correct? I'd much rather have the extra .75 inches. The Daytona rotor is still 5x100 is it not? No clearance issues to wheel?

I may upgrade fronts eventually.

I would like to see you unplug your ABS and lay into the brakes. I just doubt that your bias is any better than mine. Your front brakes "should" stop better than mine at the same line pressure.

I'm not running abs upfront. I've got to get a little crazy with the pedal to enter lock up, otherwise it stops like I dropped a f*ckin anchor.

Here's my .02 on the whole deal...

Barry your running stock front brakes, which we have all found to be a good chunk undersized for the weight of the vehicle and what some of us have done to them power wise due to the fact that you can easily warp them or overheat them and loose pedal real fast. Your complaing about going through 2 sets of pads up front and the rears still look new... Would you want the rears to have more braking force?

Think about where your weight is, think about where your weight goes during braking... I think the bias we currently have, or end up with is quite alright, no its probably not perfect BUT... You typically hear people saying you need to restrict the rear pressure due to the drums taking more pressure to work so with discs you'll have more rear lockups than you want. This however is not an issue for us.

There are a lot of theories about brakes and how they should work and which ones should do the most, but when it comes down to it, you should have very similar bias to a motorcycle and use your front brakes for about 80% of your braking power or at minimum a 60/40 pressure split, prime example is how quick does a rear tire lock up on a bike when you touch it... Seems somewhat useless doesn't it.

I'm perfectly happy with what I have, the ABS never activates while I drive and if it did it wouldn't be "saving me" since I'm unsure of where you were going with that one.

And Kurt I'll agree, when I run the F-body equipment... Damn does it stop quick. It's even really good with the N-body stuff alone.

I've yet to own a car with ABS. Yea, I'm a ballsy, badass mothaf**ka.

Disc needs more pressure than drum to operate properly if you want to get technical. The reason people restrict pressure to the rear is only to keep them from locking up during a panic stop because the weight is transferred to the front.

The two statements you made contradict yourself... They restrict them so they don't lock up but they need more pressure to work.. Obviously they are getting enough pressure if the fear of them locking up is there.

I guess I don't know what else to say... maybe I'm not beating the crap out of my car enough and thats why I can run these with no issues or complaints and the same reason why I can put my 4t60e in the 12's

It's not contradictory, it's fact. You're thinking about it wrong. Disc brakes have a higher working pressure than drums and require the use of more brake fluid to push the pistons. That's why there are no more small reservoir "suicide" 1-outlet masters out there any more...4-wheel drum is dead. The problem with rear disc being too grabby comes from the fact that they produce much better brake torque than drums...and therefore must be regulated. This just was not an issue with drums because they didn't grab hard enough to lock up the wheels.

In an application like our Berettas the rear bias is light because the master cylinder is set up for drums. With the stock master cylinder you could turn my Camaro's rear disc by hand even with brake pedal pressure, so it had to be changed to a disc/disc master that would push more fluid at a higher pressure for the rear. Then you need to regulate it down to compensate for the weight shift under hard braking.

I've thought all along the stock Beretta master would be an issue, but you've always said it was great so I thought maybe we got lucky. Now Barry is reporting differently. I wonder if a Wilwood will fit the stock power booster...I'll have to measure. They have 2-port and 4-port masters available.

What difference is Barry reporting other than he burns up stock front pads which almost all stock cars will do... He is far from easy on that car and its a 3500 5-speed... do you really expect the stock pads to hold up to that abuse?

Do what you wish but I think trying to custom fit some other master cylinder is way beyond necessary.

I think I read somewhere that the process should be nearly identical. I'm not sure what the differences are with installation or clearances, but yes, bolt pattern should remain the same at 5x100.
