Gas door

Post by 6r8ph1X »

OK guys, here's one for ya. On my 96 base, the gas door, swings open when ever I make a hard left turn    and I would like to fix that. There is a little metal clip that came off of something in the door area or off of the asembly but I can't figure out how to put it on or where to put it on. Can someone post pics for me of the inside of the gas cap area tword the front of the car, or tell me where it goes? Thanks a bunch for all your help.

ok even though I have seen how to fix it and all, it won't stay connected to anything. Any one have any Idea how to re attach this metal retention clip thingy? or would I be better off buying a new aluminum door? I hate it flying open on left hand turns. Thanks all.

I think you need a whole new gasdoor arm unless you want to do some welding.

Hey Scott, what I did was just bought a new one from e-bay with a working retention clip. It cost me 30$ with shipping

Gas door

Post by davidjbaldwin »

I just fixed my gas door by going to a junk yard and getting a new assembly.  It cost me $30.  However, the cap was black and my Beretta is Rasberry.  So, I popped off the one, using pointy nose plyers, and reinstalled it on the assembly with the Rasberry color.  Just Note:  if you get a used gas door assembly from the junk yard, it probably is rusted.  So, I would replace the clip rather than the assembly.

Does anyone know if you could just buy the clip?

Thanks.  This is my first post.

So, I am in need of a gas door assembly. Where can I order one from? Not junkyards, as they are probably all rusted out. Thanks.
Armando.
