Need help diagnosing possible transmission slipping

Post by Themanytoys »

I have a 94 beretta with a 3.1l it has 247118 miles with four speed overdrive. I recently changed the head gaskets, fuel pump, water pump, starter, transmission filter and oil.

Ok so today I went driving and I noticed that it shifts in to 1st,2nd, but when it suppose to go into 3rd it simulates the rpm drop where it was suppose to shift but at the same time the transmission is screaming at high rpms. For example with a manual transmission and leaving it in a gear for too long.

Also I got on the highway picked it up to 65 (with high rpm sound) and then got off and the open door chime went off.

I don't smell burn transmission fluid. My mechanic said that it shifts softly into 3rd.

So is it me or do I need to overhaul the transmission, or possibly the PCM is screwed?

Please help! :unknown:

Alright, After testing I found out the wheel bearings in the front are shot. I should of known I've had this problem before. My bad.
