Door panel 90&91

Post by NJ93TY »

I searched but could not find my answer. I know there is a way to sway 91-93 door panels to 94+ car but I was wondering if the mounting for a 90 and 91 are the same or different. I may have a set of doors lined up but they are from a 91. My car being a 90 and having different door panels then a 91 I'm not sure if the 90 panels will mount up to the 91 doors. I'm not really looking to "make them work" but would rather make sure first before i waste time and money.

Ive had similar situation with 87 using a 90 door on one side and a 96 on the other. The provisions to go either style is in place. The riveted parts such as: seat belt config, grab handle bracket, window lift design, etc would need re-popping.

Not meaning to thread-jack (I may start my own if answers are not forthcoming), but I have a similar question... My '89 GTU might be getting a set of early '88 panels (waiting in the garage), as the originals are pretty beat up and I really like the '87- early '88 panels better than any others used in these cars. But, since the '89 has the door-mounted seat-belts that the early '88s are missing, has anyone modified the panels for the in-door belts before? I really don't want to ruin these hard-to-find panels...

Been there, done that. It won't work. Just convert to the pillar mounted belts.

:sorry: [Sigh] I was kind of afraid of that. I'll probably just fix-up the original panels in the car and either sell the '88 GT panels here or hang on to them in case I someday get a pillar-mount car... Thanks Cliff.
