Outter Rocker Panel Reinforcement NEEDED in Ohio

Post by mouseman »

I am looking for a clean (no rust through) Outter Rocker Panel Reinforcement piece for the Driver's side of my 90 Beretta. This is the piece directly behind the Rocker Panel and is under GM part# 10109485 and when looking at it there are a series of triangles cut in it across the front of it and is 4-6' long.

Can you help?

I believe the year on this item is unimportant as it was used on all years of the beloved Beretta!

Hold up, is this that reforcement part that the TSB was talking about? Pretty sure my 95 doesn't have it.

On the 90 Indy driver side (LH) there is an Inner Rocker Panel (10173269) connected to the floor pan, then the Outer Rocker Reinforcement (1019485) connected on top of that, and then the Outer Rocker (22569687) which seems to be available from many sheet metal body outlets and eBay.

My parts listing/diagram from GM shows an Rocker Reinforcement for the 95, but not sure why yours wouldn't have one.....good question.

I will have to look into this. Due to the TSB it should have been done(not to say the owners before ever looked into this). My 95 looks like my 90 in that area. If GM no longer has the parts I fail to see how anything can be done. Though if there was a TSB then GM should have to do it to any car still on the road. That, I'm sure has a loop hole.

It's pics time for those that have it. I just want to make sure. I forget when the TSB came out. I think it was 95, so if my car was made in 94 it can have the problem.

I already posted that and he stated they said they do not have them and its discontinued. Just because they have a listing and a PN does not mean they have the parts, they just have a really good catalog to find the stuff..

Ah yes quality rocker repair from JCWhitney...

They just slide over whats there if they even fit...

Trust me your wasting your money with them.

You need to find the parts somewhere in a yard where they are not rusted, which is going to be really hard to do.

Yeah, caught that with the J.C Witney stuff....not real good if everything underneath rots out :-(

Finding this part rust free is about as bad as finding rear bumper impact absorbers in same condition......they all rusted to death.

I did get lucky on the rear metal body panel I was looking for.....went to a website that said it was discontinued like all the nally stuff. The guy gave me the name of three (3) dealerships that had them in stock. It just arrived last night from TN, NOS condition and will work perfect. About $100 cheaper than VPI!!!

Thanks all for the ideas on the rocker reinforcement, if you see one in the yard not rotten pleaselet me know!!!

CAR ROCKER REPAIR PANELS
Heavy-duty rocker panel slips on easily and covers damaged or rusted-out panel
The easy and economical way to restore original looks
WTF, that must the most insane thing i've ever heard. just cover it up and let it rot underneath, they could just name it deathtrap panels. =@

Is that even legal?!

Yes....Ohio does have its fair share of those that would take dumb short cuts.....that's not me and why I'm searching for the right parts to fix my Indy.
