The beater has a Alpine 7894 headunit with XM direct, Alpine MRD-M301 sub amp running 2 JL 10" W0's and then a MRP-F240 running two 4" Boston Acoustics two-way speakers up front and two 6x9 Boston Acoustics two-way speakers in the rear.

Some pics of the install, These pics can be up to 5 years old too... I can't remember how old that HU pic is, I havent had that carbon fiber trim on in like forever.

Amps are still mounted the same
Image

Subs are still the same, just minus the NOS bottle now :)

There are more systems... but there are only about 10 people IF THAT active on this board... Everyone somehow thinks the Bstuff is the place to be... Not many people over there know much when it actually comes to doing something.

My cheap Sony stuff:

No amp or subs either. I dont even have the stereo on a lot of the time. I'd rather listen to the Borla exhaust.

I dont have a converson kit for my '88 so that my deck actually fits maybe one of these days I'll fix that and get some pics up. I'm with you woody I don't much listen to the radio unless I'm on like an hour drive. Aswell I'm young and when I can afford to have a suttle system in my car again I'll play more music. I know this is an old thread but 3X00 you have a couple simple instructions to wire in that secondary a,p for the mids?

Install it just like any other amp, I had pre-amp outs for the mids as well as sub outs from my deck, and then I just ran wires from the amp to each speaker replacing the stock ones.

I have a Sony HU with BT capability, cost me around 180 at the time. It works fine, connected to a 200W Optimus amp I bought in 98. Still using the original stock speakers too. Setup works well, not over powering, but much more solid than stock, plus it interfaces with my phone very nicely. :D

Pics will have to come later, don't have many of them. Sub was custom built by me in 94 less than a month after I bought the Z. On its 3rd 12" DV coil speaker, this one is a 600W capacity. Using it as a 2 ohm for the time being with the amp in single channel mode.

I know some people have heard it at fest this year. lol I had it on for like a couple hours at the park.

Simple way of tieing them up? My only real question is how do you get back to the ones in the dash. I think yours has door speakers makes it real easy but how would I get wires all the way up into the dash like that? I know I could tap into the orignals but if I want sound I'm going to have to put better speakers then what I have and for better speakers you need better then stock wire.

Just because it isn't in the dash, doesn't mean I don't have it. :P I can actually put mine back to completely stock in less than 15 minutes. Can anyone else say that? :D

Hell, I wasn't aware any beretta's came with speakers in the dash or the doors, my bad. I always thought they were in the kick panels! As for the wire, stock's are plenty heavy enough. They can easily handle speakers more than twice the rated wattage the stock ones carry. 16 gauge. Everyone always wants to put in monster wire, when they really don't need it most of the time. Bigger wire means it can handle more amps, but too big and it turns into a capacitor, in a sense. 16 gauge can handle plenty, unless you are going to be throwing 400W to EACH speaker, or running 2 ohm speakers? Hell I am using 16 gauge wire between the speaker and the amp. Sure, I'm using 2 sets so its the equivalent of like 10 or 12 gauge the way its wired, but its fine. Only pushing 200W through them. I just know that 2 ohm speaker load draws way more amps than say a 4 or 8 ohm load, hence the increase in size. So unless you are installing 2 ohm speakers into the dash and such, the existing will be fine.

Point is, the existing wiring is plenty heavy enough for most setups, even aftermarket. I can bet that if you used the existing on one side and ran new wire on the other, you would NOT hear a difference between them. My OEM harness is un-modified. Meaning I used a plug in adapter to allow me to hook up whatever head unit I wanted, etc. Any time I change the radio out (which isn't often) I rewire the adapter to the new radio harness. All of my connections between them are soldered and heat shrinked. Never have issues with any of it, and its easy to put in and take out.

Anyways, just my opinion. *shrug

Alright thanks. I wasn't so much worried about the size more the accessability of everything. I figure if anything heat shrink the front two speakers and rewire the back to straight into the amp itself. I've had a kicking system in my Civic but never got the chance to wire up my speakers to an amp. Is what I want to do is put about 160w up front and 240w on the 6x9's front speakers is where you get a lot of sound and theres tons of 80w speakers that will fit the dash style speakers for replacements. As for the 6x9's you can do whatever you want but its much easier to get a 400w 8ohm amp then a 600w. Also for anyone wondering you can elimnate your sub's with the right 6x9's unless you really want the bass out of your car. Only problem there is no one ever uses dynamate and thats when you get bad rattles from your trunk. But to get rid of the subs any 6x9 thats 200w+ and you should be able to find 220w 6x9's fairly easy they just cost a bit more. With that being said with the right channels and bass movement you will get great sound without having to do any subs. Now for amp placement I don't have a fold down seat and my trunk needs to be used as well. Snowboarding can't be done with no trunk space!!!

My wires run up under the plastic carpet stay's... and I have floor corner speakers, so in a similar location to where you would have to run wires to get to dash mounted ones.

I'm going to be pulling this system soon since it's all sitting idle in the car, and I wouldn't mind having it in the pink one... I'm just going to be sure and make a quick disconnect on the rear subs so I can pull them quick and easy.

And Ace think about what your saying...

Yes the stock wire is sufficient, but the wires do NOT run to where my amp is mounted, I have a low mono amp for the subs and a 4 channel for the high's/mid's, so the stock wire is 100% useless to me. My speakers are not run from my deck, I only use the pre-outs and they go back to the amp mounted on my fold down seat, which then breaks off to all the individual corners. Re-wiring was 100% necessary in my application, and I used the wire I did because its cleaner and higher quality than the stock wires. And it just looks nice in there. All of my stock wire is still there yes, and my harness, well um yeah I'm not sure how that is up front... Its been a while since I had that off, but IIRC it does have an adapter soldered to the HU wiring.
