BerettaFest Chicago 2010 Race Classes (Final Edition)

Post by Asylum »

After "much discussion" and wringing of hands and nashing of teeth here are the Six Classes that will be competed at Great Lakes Dragway Friday June 25th.

Please note that due to the nature of the venue there is no guarantee that the cars will be run head to head, but rather the times will be recorded and must be accompanied by the actual timeslip.

Stock Classes:

N/A Quad 4

N/A '87 -'93 2.8/3.1V6

N/A '94 -'96 3100 V6

*Any transaxle allowed. WAI/CAI allowed. Full exhaust. Full interior. Street tires.
*Must be street legal and licensed.
*All decisions as to eligibility will be at the discretion of the Event Director.

If you have any questions I suggest you ask beforehand.

Modified Classes:

N/A Inline 4 cylinder

N/A V6

*ANY modification allowed. Engine swaps allowed. Any transaxle. Slicks allowed. Must be original OEM drivetrain configuration (FWD). Helmets required if 13.99 or quicker.

Power Adder Class:

Inline 4 and V6 engines only.

Any FWD transaxle.

Any engine modification allowed.

Nitrous Oxide, Turbos, Blowers OK.

Slicks OK.

Interior must include two bucket seats.

Helmets Required.

ALL CARS in all classes are subject to Great Lakes Dragway technical inspection and the local track rules and regulations.

If you have any questions ASK! In this thread so everyone can see them and the answers.

In the event of any disagreement the decision of the Event Director is final.

If someone wants to post this on B'Stuff and the Yahoo board feel free to do so.

There was a question raised about UDP's in the stock class.

Here is the "where do you stop" issue again.

I suppose as far as I'm concerned they are fine.

As for the V8 car Cack mentioned. Who Cares! There is nothing for it to race against so thanx for coming, if it's even registered.

As Eric said, these classes are more referring to the Engine you are currently running, if you have a 5-speed but a stock 2.8 or 3.1 then you would be in the stock class. Also if you have any further questions you can as them at the event when they are setting up the classes to see if any of your modifications bump you out of a certain category.

I think this can/should be discussed more on the modifications accepted. If not discussed at least laid down right now with a specific list, for example

WAI/CAI
Exhaust (Full)
UDP
etc...

all accepted for stock class... and so on...

All Stock Class '87-'93 and '94-'96 cars wanting to run the Stock Class will have.

WAI/CAI OK!

Full interior.

Full factory-type exhaust system. No Cut-outs or dumps. Cat delete OK. No Headers.

Any transaxle allowed.

UDP allowed.

No aftermarket ignition system controls, however aftermarket coils and spark plug wires allowed.

Must be licensed and driven to the track.

No slicks or drag radials. All tires must be the same size and of matching tread and configuration and have a DOT designation.

Accessory belt must be intact and have no more than 1" of play.

In the event of a dispute your car must be able to produce 16.0 inches of vacuum at 1200 RPM. (God I hope it doesn't get to this!)

This is going to be the "FUN" class for everyone to see just what you got!

Any question ASK NOW!

On a secondary note, Jon or someone should put this on B'stuff and the Yahoo thingy and direct them to here for the latest updates.

These are going to be very interesting classes both for the 2.8/3.1 guys, and the 3100 cars.

My prediction? 16.4 for the early cars, and "maybe" a 15.9 for the '94-'96 entries, but it will likely be a 5-speed swap. But we'll see.

And ALOT of associated bragging rights!

Received the following from Great Lakes Dragway yesterday,

"Eric,
If your group can get to the track as close to 5 PM as possible and therefore be some of the first cars in we will ensure you are all pitted/parked together and will assist with stantions and caution tape as required.
We will also assign a seperate staging lane for your members, run your cars as a group, and will assist in any sort of eliminator set up you require.
We look forward to welcoming BerettaFest 2010 Chicago to Great Lakes Dragway.
Randy"

Looks like we are good to do as far as this is concerned.
