PM Issues

Post by heavywoody »

I've sent a few PM's to different people, and when I look at my inbox, the ones I've sent are sitting in the "outbox" and not in the "sent" folder.

What's the deal with that?

The person you sent them to hasn't opened them yet. Send one to me, I will test it for you. lol

Ace is correct... They sit in your outbox till the individual reads it.. somewhat of a nifty tracking deal, you can also edit/delete that message before the user gets it.

I was a mod before this board was created, so suck it.

Besides, I rarely use PM's, just reply to other members; never really paid attention to the Outbox ordeal since I'm not on here that much anyways.

Since I've been itching for a response from a member, I've spent more time in my PM section.

So :runsies: =@ :burn:

I, for one, want to see my sent emails in my sent folder, not in the outbox looking like the server ate them and my intended recipient didn't get them. Outlook email uses outbox folder before server sends it; then it goes to sent folder. Outlook does not use it as a holding area until someone reads it.

The date/time postings are not recording accurately either.

Absolutley hate gettting logged out while typing a PM or a reply to a board post. Automatic logout time needs to be longer.

Thanks much,
Dolores

Sorry but there is nothing that we can change on the messages being in the outbox. They are there because YOUR recipient has not read them yet so you still have the option of deleting them, editing them and also its a way to track them to see if the person has even read your message yet. This is not outlook or a POP mail server so using that as comparison is like comparing apples and oranges...

The time is wrong because you did not setup your timezone on your user control panel.

Regarding the log out issue, this has been discussed before the time is set for near 15 min and yes it can be annoying but PM the Admin to see if he will modify it I doubt he can for server resource purposes, the other way to fix it is to check off the box "Automatically log me in each visit" when logging in for the first time and be sure to use Log Out when your done with the site and you wont have to worry about a public PC staying logged in. If you don't use log out then you will stay logged in on that PC if you don't clear cookies or history.

Honestly, if it takes you longer than 15 minutes to type a PM, you're doing it wrong!
And DDDeLite, You are dropping science on our poor little forum board! I for one really like seeing the PMs in the outbox until the recipient actually reads it. But to each his own. Please do not expect our little PM service to ever be as comprehensive as Outlook.

Thank you, 3X00-Modified - I implemented your suggestions. I appreciate your support.

Thank you, berettaboi - I definitely get interrupted/side tracked especially when I'm on here at work. Gotta get some beer later ;)

Styluss - no need to be hating on people for asking a question or having a concern.
