I'm not "afraid" of magenta. I just like a style that looks a little more pissed off.

What? How?!

Anyhow, amazing job man, not many of us is ready to go all the way with restoring these old cars, specially small bits like window trims and stuff always get forgotten.

I think I called about every Chevy dealer from Florida to Alberta. When I told them what I was looking for I always got the same question "why?". The rear window moulding, and passenger side pinchweld weatherstrip were real pains, people said they had them, but sent the wrong stuff.

Now if we could just get the window scalp trim.

I ended up using universal t-molding for the front & rear windshield that worked really well. But I'd love to replace the 1" thick striped side window moldings with something a little cleaner...

If you strip the plastic off the side molding's its a metal strip below that's narrower... Obviously it's not the same on the rear window since that's an entire window trim piece. I also kinda wish there was something to use as an alternative, because this stuff isn't going to last forever.

s4of12, very impressive work and kudos for your dedication. Job well done. Lots of knowledge on this site from members that really know their stuff. Glad you found it, thanks for sharing the story.

Super awesome story and work! I myself am in process of doing a restore on a 1992 GTZ. While I had no special attachment to this car, it was almost identical to one I had in the early 2000's which I ended up selling, only to have the new owner completely total it 3 weeks later.

I came across this one in late 2013 and decided to go for it, since it was a "clean California car" - only after I purchased it and drove to California to get it, did I get to see that the rust was starting to eat it (living in Minnesota for 3 or 4 years that the old owner didn't mention probably were the cause of that!).

Anyhow, I'm about 1.5 years into the restoration and finally got paint on it. Budget? Blown. But, just like yours, it'll be a thing of beauty when she's done! I tossed a couple of pictures in for you.

Welcome to the group!

Wow, stencil that is looking amazing! I wish I had gone that far with the rockers on mine.

At the start of the project I had never put a welder to a car and I was scared. I wish I hadn't paid a shop to do my rockers, they just slapped something together and didn't give the rust repair the attention to detail yours has had. I have a feeling in 10 years I am going to be neck deep in rusty rockers again.

My advice to any newbie out there is get a good shop and really watch the process, or just take your time and learn as you go. It's just steel, humans have been using the stuff for a long time. Patience goes a long way.

I should have thanked all the members of this site from the beginning. I was a lurker on here since before I began my project. If my wife was the motivation, beretta.net was the hope it was possible.

Yeah, I would echo this as well for anyone doing it. It took me a while to find a shop that was really interested in doing a good job and had pride in their work, no matter what car they are working on. I will be making a thread on here at some point, but I do have a Facebook album that shows the progress of the work so far at: https://www.facebook.com/aaron.choate.3 ... 384&type=3

I was able to get replacement OUTER rockers, but getting the rocker supports required that I cut good ones out of a doner car - otherwise it would have been custom and alot more money.

S4of12, I have no skills in welding at all, so I had to find someone willing to do it, and it wasn't easy - but there are people out there who will do it, although they are not cheap :(

Once you own a welder you'll wonder how you ever lived without one...

That was my first car too! So wish I could have done that to save it. Thinking about how many Berettas are left on the road is so sad. Coming back here to see a lot of you still dedicated to your Berettas makes me feel better! Looks great, keep up the good work!
