Looks good, I wonder how the tach looks in person! Is the photo making it look like some numbers are much brighter, esp on the speedo?
Is it right that its a Z26 instrument panel? The SS logo is awesome!!

I though about doing the tach red as well, its the Chevys sports color after all. Additionally, because red LEDs are usually very bright (for our eyes), however I did not want to give up the red lines. Surprisingly, the red lines and yellow needles are still clearly visible with blue lighting. I was also concerned with inhomogenous lighting and it does exist but I was rather pleased with the outcome.

Ya if you can move the redline, I'd be interested.

That looks really good! Mine does have the hot spots you see. It's not as noticeable in person, but they are there.

In this pic you can see where Chevy actually partially blacked out the hot spots to make it look even. It's something I'd like to try, but I haven't thought of a good way to do it yet.

Same way I did the SS by the stereo. I'd have to keep the warning light part of the stock gauges but ditch the rest.

So I made the new gauge panel. It's not as evenly lit as OEM but it's not quite as hot & cold as the modded OEM with red lighting. I even engraved the back side an additional .007" in the dark spots to hoepfully make it even. I still like the look though. Not sure yet if this is the final product.

Got sick of waiting for the god damn snow...so I took it out of storage. Feels good to get behind the wheel again. And it took me less than 1 minute to install my only "mod" for the winter. I took the mirror apart and changed the LED color to red. Every other bulb was aready red except the GM teal on that mirror and it drove me nuts. haha Also thinking about having Speedhut make me a custom gauge overlay like I did for the Camaro. It should even out the inconsistencies in the illumination.

Ok, so Speedhut doesn't do any overlays now. Shawn must have gotten one of the last ones they produced. They are gone from the website and the art guy via email said they are no longer available.

So...what are the specs for this printer, Cliff? haha I have a file ready to go. I can figure out a mask layer for an extra layer of black ink to get the backlighting to come out right too. I've done some work with a UV Mimaki in the past.

1500 DPI. Not sure if it's setup as 5 (CMYK+W) or 7 (CMYK+W, Lc, Lm) colors currently. Cures via UV. The only thing i don't know is if they currently have the right substrate.

Cool. Substrate would need to be pretty thin. Not much room under the needles. I could actually provide pre-cut substrate for them to work with... Do they have a primer to use with substrates that don't have great adhesion?

So, as I added these pictures to the "finishing touches" album on motortopia...I realize it will never be finished. haha Tiffany says this mod proves I have OCD. She may be slightly right...

Took the new stereo apart and changed the LED display to red. It was the only thing left that wasn't! haha

So Cliff, think you can get me in touch with your printer? This is the design I sent to Speedhut...
