'93 SCX - W41 Idle/Exhaust and 0-90mph pull vids up.

Post by SuzukiGhostRider »

Picked up an '93 Aqua SCX with the W41 engine/5 speed trans yesterday in Phoenix, AZ. Here are some pics. Runs like a raped ape after a good tune up! I love it. Clay bar and cleanup tomorrow. It rained like hell here today with the exception of a few hours I fit my tuneup (new ff,af,oil change, new iridium plugs) into! :D Hope you likey! :D I do!

Why waste the time to claybar a car that has the clear coat pealing off of it. In my eyes its not worth the effort.

Nice find though.

It's actually an Oldsmobile engine in an Oldsmobile.

Claybar?? Just start sanding and re-paint.

It doesn't look too bad for an old N-Body. Nice that it still has the original wheels on it too.

One thing I'd imagine is those struts and shocks would cost a fortune to replace if they're even made anymore.

Yeah, I know , she needs paint, lol. A buddy who owns a body shop down the road is cutting me slack. A full Dupont paint job (minus jambs , they're good to go) for $1500 including materials. Good friend, eh? I think so! The clay bar, well,I would like SOME shine on the good paint, lol! I know, waste of time, but..... My time, right? :D

This is 1 in 73 made in '93 in Aqua to the person asking how rare this car is. 1 in 500 produced in total in '93 for the SCX. Only 1146 in '92 for the SCX for a total of 1646 ever made including the 11 c41 race models. :D It's rare....

Thx for the comments fellas. Keep 'em coming.

Looks like it would be a fun car to drive. What were the HP and TQ specs? I've lost track again, how many cars do you have now?

There is an evolving theory about "rare" cars that permeates the Appraisal World I live in at times.

It can be as ridiculous as. It's the only Hemi Coronet Station Wagon with a 4-speed they ever built.

Which may well be very true. Fact of the matter is NO ONE WANTED ONE!

Chrysler would have built 30,000 of them if they thought they could sell the damn things!!

Same for Hemi Cuda converts etc. NO ONE would buy one! You get my drift.

In the 90's GM had a hard time selling anything.

Yes it's a rare find. BUT they would have built all they thought they could sell.

But paint it, make it pretty and enjoy the car for what it is.

Actually Eric, GM had NO interest in selling this car publicly for one reason. The same reason they even OFFERED it to the public..... They HAD to make a certain number of cars for each year that they wanted to compete the SCX model in the Firestone Firehawk SCAA racing circuit. That minimum number of cars being 500 to the public for each year. NOW, if you're QUITE done bashing my "useless rare car that no one wants" I'll thank you to gtfo of my thread. I get it, you don't dig it. Fine. Enough said. Done?

Ease up there... I didn't see any bashing from him. He simiply stated why most vehicles are rare... Including why my Raspberry Metallic paint is rare on my car.

I don't put up with the BS that happens on BS.com... so if I see someone starting a fire I will put an end to it, there is no need to start yelling at each other in posts. And Eric thats a fair warning to you too... I know you and SGR don't get along that well and I'm not going to put up with what goes on over there... I will delete all and any negative posts and start a thread over if I have to. I've got time.

Nice! That's great to hear on the mods. I think a turbo would be a bit much, but that's just me. I have to ask, did you ever get the control arm bushings in the Beretta?
