Ronaconda's 89 GT(Z)

Post by ronaconda »

Is it a project or restoration??? Maybe more like a work in progress??? I'll let you decide.
Here is how it started:

First thing i decided to do was the z turns and fogs (june-july/2008):

And the switch where it should be with the wiring installed correctly - with the factory fog harness and the wiring in the plug for the map lights!!!

Euro heads and tails (november/2009):

And next on the list is the Z wheels!!!

I am also taking the steering rack and the suspension from the same z shown above and putting it all on my gt. I am trying to get the black steering column in there as well. And a few little things like the "GTZ" badges for the door panels.

So, i said i was going to these Z wheels:
Image

...but went to these because i couldn't pass them up at the yard. Barely a mark on them with new tires for 2 bills!!! Still have the GTZ wheels should i change my mind!!! ;)
Image

...and got the panels installed (2/24/10) that Erich sent me:

I had to swap over my map pockets because the two screw mount points were gone. Not too shabby if i do say so myself!!! :D

Next on the list...new(er) lower filler (thanks Wanako!!!):

Rear Z51 solid sway bar (3/6/10)...

Debated on installing the front Z51 bar...

...until it was realized that this bar is nearly as big as the fe3 bar.

Got the wiring ran for the lighted Caddy sunvisors and the auto-dim mirror (3/9/10) and got the auto-dim mirror all buttoned up 3/11/10:

no problem dude. I'm glad you liked that filler panel. It definitely looks alot better than the previous one. Just a nice sand, buff and polish and that thing will look kickass. I was seriously thinking of keeping it for myself, but I found a sweet black one for me. Hopefully I sealed it enough on yours to keep the dust and moisture out.

You're also still missing the GTU mirrors I got you. Did you manage to find a glass for the passenger side?

Hopefully I'll have mine back up and running this coming weekend. I haven't driven her in months and I'm having withdrawal. My wife's Toyota Yaris can't satisfy me. The cool thing is that I got a nice 3.1 with only 72K on it in Arizona. It'll be a huge refresher for my car from the poor 254K 2.8 that was in there. I also got a NICE tan carpet and black interior trim pieces that I'll be installing for my two-tone interior. I also got new and resealed taillights that I need to finish polishing.

One day I really want to go out there with all the S.W. guys and kick it.

I'd call it a "Restoration/Project"

It certainly has come a long way, and it appears you made all the right choices.
