The car has pretty shitty perches too, and I thought that was gonna go first. I've never seen this happen to a burrito before. The old 95 base had rust everywhere but the shock towers. Yes the car has seen itS fair share of rain, but nothing leaks into the trunk. This is an external rust issue. Also this has nothing to do with an exaust leak. This car has it's orig. Exaust on it still, and surprisingly it's still fine, even the muffler. I think this car may have sat in the back of a driveway with the rear end of it on grass or something. When you look at the rust under it, thats the first thing that comes to mind. It seems like it happened from moisture, and not salt because like I said, everything in front of the rear wheels is rust free.

Zzziiiippp!! Zipper car, anyone? :P I really don't mean to be disrespectful or belittle the very real issue you are facing with the car, but maybe finding a donor to graft-in the back-end may be a way to save your car.

Of my five that I've owned, I've never seen a severe rust issue on them. My nephew in upstate NY did have a BRM Z-26 (I don't recall the year) that had holes rusting through it, otherwise I haven't seen them getting cancer like a lot of board-members here seem to be facing -I do count myself lucky for that.

I hope you are able to fix that car, one way or another. :( Sorry to see that much rot in it, I can tell you have really cared for the car. Good luck, man.

Rettax3 that is an option for sure. Finding one with a good clean ass end is the problem. Like I said, I have to wait untill it gets warmer outside to take it to the body shop. I have discussed this with the guy there already, and that is something that he mentioned. I will keep this updated as I find out more, and figure out what I'm gonna do. Oh and Taskmaster C, my 94 is still my daily driver, and is still rust free. I updated that thread a couple days ago also, here it is viewtopic.php?f=27&t=10319&start=45. The 96 had, and still has the evap problem.

I have read on here, I think, that the later Grand Ams can donate an IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) that fits in nicely -maybe search around for that info and see if one of those newer cars can help out, as it would be a cool upgrade and might be easier to find one of them without rust too. If not, then I am pretty certain that the '92+ N-body cars (Grand Am, Skylark, Achieva) have the same back-end as our Berettas (they do have the same front-end, at least), so you could widen your search that way... :good:

Wow that is pretty bad. Especially since the car is low mileage and rust free otherwise. Shouldn't be very expensive to fix if you do it yourself and take your time.
