Convertible top

Post by 1990BerettaGTZ2.3L »

Just informing some that want to convert their beretta to a convertible I talked to ken haun and he said he worked at C&C and his wife worked at GM and I told him I missed out on the beretta convertible that supposedly travelor stole from me :( but anyway he said the top off a 95-up cavalier is the same he kept saying 1999 but its the same top so to some that have argued with me on one thread this was the top that was used

Yeah, I have talked to Ken before. He has said a lot of things. I know he used to have a ton of leftover NOS parts for the Indy style beretta's. But who knows what and how much he actually has anymore.

As I said. He says many things, and some of us have heard different tales. I would have to visit him and see these for myself I think at this point. Not to mention he wants a lot for them still, if he still has a lot of stuff.

So, they used the 95-99 Cavalier top on the 1990 Beretta? =P

I don't buy it, they look quite different to me. Not to mention one follows a curve for the length of the top, and the other does not.

Well basically the 95-99 cavalier top was taken from the beretta cause GM didn't want to spend the money to design another do they took it from the beretta to use on the cavs

Ken Hahn couldn't tell the same story about anything twice without embellishing the hell out of it or just plain contradicting what he told the guy before you!!

YES he does seem to have some parts, and will sell them at ridiculous prices and the world wide rumour is that they are all stolen.

A Cavalier convertable top WILL NOT fit a Beretta! Although I suppose you can make anything fit anything if you are determined.

Just my humble opinion!!

He said exactly the opposite to me when I picked up parts from his house... said he no longer had any new sets of GTU wheels. The collection of parts at his house is fairly extensive, and most are brand new in original packaging. It's nothing crazy though... just a medium size room in his basement. He said he keeps the larger parts elsewhere.

The Cavalier top story is BS. The shape is entirely wrong. Some hardware (like latches) from the 2nd generation Cavalier are the same and can be verified by checking the part numbers. The 2nd gen Cavy and Beretta were both built by C&C, so it makes sense that they would share some parts. The 3rd gen Cavy convertible was built in-house by GM.

I have talked 2 of the employees who worked directly on the Beretta project at C&C (Ken worked in sales), and both of them stressed the similarities to the Cutlass. Both cars were developed at the same time, and they share the same design concepts. The top from a Cutlass is the closest thing you'll find.

The 2nd Gen Cavalier was as close as it got to a Beretta.
The 3rd Gen was a different platform. No V6's and a smaller footprint.
The people who have dealt with Hahn, including me, know that the story changes by the day, or the need to sell you something.
Although I would LOVE a set of those brand new GTU/INDY wheels if he really has them.

Why would you want me to post pictures of my coffee table?

That would be silly.

Don't talk to Ken Hahn unless you want to buy something from him. Done.
