What a weird thing....  I was just talking about this exact same thing with someone not even an hour ago.

If greed didn't get the best of us, fuel prices would be different.

I don't think not buying gasoline for a day is going to solve the problem.  It'll just a be a day for the oil companies to go on vacation and the next day things will return to normal.  Everyone would buy gas the day before the boycott or the day after.

Check out this article from snopes.com http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/nogas.asp

I feel the pain, still wish I had my old beretta cruisng around getting about 27 mpg vs. 17 mpg.  It costs me arond $70 a week for gasoline and I get about 450 miles to a tank.  I make 10.70/hr.  But I burn so much up in gasoline I'd be better off at working for minimum wage at a place closer to home, but I live in the boonies, so there's nowhere to work, so I must commute.

frankly i think it is just gay on how these prices are going up, my dad made a good point to me " if we buy other countries oil and not use ours when the world runs out and we have oil we wont be a super power we will become a megapower." since my dad is about 53 i just say to him ur generation screwed mine over. and he says no i just say when u bought gas u paid 28 cents and did not give a crap if you blew through gas or not, now we have to worry if we can get to school or work and is it worth it!
also i found some cylinder heads for about 50 bucks rebuilt on ebay going down about 2 tommorow dont touch them my car is burning oil like crazae of course it is not the bottom end it is the heads. grr

I agree with you, I believe that if the CEO of some oil company farts the price goes up.

You sure it's the head, maybe a valve cover gasket/bent valve cover?

It says something about the way America, and the world,  works that a company can make record profits, for any business, ever, and yet still charge more and more for its product. Hooray for capitalism. But it all follows that basic principals of supply and demand. Supply is a bit scarce, demand is up, a company can charge as much(even more) than most would be willing to pay for simply because they have to. I really wish that car companies would work more with governments to find a reliable alternative fuel, instead of touting this hybrid crap the still has the same problem of needing fossil fuels to run. But, especially in this country, most in government are so tied to oil companies, that something that would put a damper on record profits would be years away. When the largest oil producing countries become stable, oil will fall. Don't hold your breath...

Umm...I make minimum wage, and gas prices still don't bother me that much. Yes, I'd love to pay much less for gas. But my complaining doesn't make the numbers on the gas station sign change. So I generally just don't care anymore.

i agree but i think it is stupid when america does have reserves and we are not using them to relieve the american public. also think of it this way when we spend more on gas we spend less on other things such as enertainment so basically gas could very well be the downfall of america

You have to be pro-activist to make change!  With that attitude, you'll always be walked on.

Well it hit me the other day which is really sad. I discovered that the only reason I have a job is to afford the gas to get to my job. It really bums you out to realize that. Up here in Canada I'm paying $1.129/L which pushes $4 gallon. It is retarded.

I used to work at a gas station and I got out raged when I learned that my boss made $0.16/L profit. No one needs money like that. And that was just him, imagine what the oil companies are making?!
