They still seem good. It was a little colder this weekend and they would spin a little but still grab hard in second.

I have broken probably 6 now....
Building a tune totally from scratch is very hard. The only thing I used from someone else was the timing table(from a turbo 3400 lol)
I have been screwing with cranking timing. Right now its at 3 degrees advanced. However, overall crank trigger is 57 degrees. Being that this is a 60 degree v6 it seems logical that that value should be 60. So its possibly 6 degrees advanced while cranking.
What's happening is it is back firing while cranking and breaking the starter(cant remember the name had a few drinks tonight). It is backfiring through the intake...
I read that GM uses really low cranking advance, I will run it at 0 advance for a little and see how it is. It also could be too rich while cranking and causing it to backfire or hydrolock? It starts sweet when warm. No kickback at all. That is still at the same timing...
Its just going to take some playing around to get it right. The 3500 bin is hard to read, plus its MAF based. I don't know how to interoperate it very well. Making a tune from stock SUCKS. Anyone going MS shoot me a PM I have it almost perfect with the exception of 5500+rpm WOT and cranking. Around town is good.

I dont know what your working with but the only table I can find in my bin is Crank Spark Advance vs RPM vs Coolant Temp.
base is around 10* and climbs after 250 RPM
60* does only refer to the seperation angle of the cylinders... I don't think it would really apply to startup timing either.

The 60 degree thing i beleive is the offset between when cylinder 1 fires and the crank sensor tells cylinder 1 to fire. Im just doubting that GM picked a random number like 57. If it actually is 60, then my actual timing numbers are 3 degrees retarded (or maybe advanced) from what is shown on my table. No problem, just something thats possible.
I think I have a cranking timing vs coolant temp table too... I need to look into that because I ONLY have kick back issues on a cold motor. It starts perfectly when warm.

You said all the fast 3500's... Not Beretta's... And he only scrapped the car, he's putting a n/a 3500 with a 4l60 into a 89 Camaro RWD for weight difference.
I think I still have the fastest Beretta's still in existance in the states that is... (rodney's got me)... No idea what happened to Ricky or BerettaMX, I know I also beat Rex's old time with my one nitrous run last year with my car.

60*v6 is exactly what Jon said, the angle of the cylinder banks in relation to each other. Just like the 90*v6 the 3.8 and the 90*v8 350 sbc. Get out a protractor and I'm sure it measures up. You can tell visually it is tighter than a 90.

I was talking about spark trigger angle.
Im not that much of a NOOB! I have rebuilt quite a few of these motors and actually just scrapped my blown up 3500 this last weekend after taking it down to bare block.

I'll go measure my other crank, but I really doubt that there is that much of an offset of when the crank tells the cylinder to fire to when it does.
