Post by themadness »

i found this z in dallas nc, about 3 hours away. he offered to sell it for 2250 but it needs a door key and the air isnt blowing cold. he told me he didnt know about the service history and didnt know what the a/c problem was.

its right outside of charlotte. if there is someone in that area that can help out i would be grateful

i have run across a couple on craigslist locally but they were in rough shape. i did find one in philly that was identical to the one i had but they were stuck on the price and wanted 800 to ship to NC.

i may go check this one out since the guy said its not the stealership's it his and the lot is a friends so they are helping him out.

the a/c and key may be a stumbling block though

Door keys are a snap. Beretta's are perhaps one of the EASIEST cars on the market to install new door lock cylinders in and they are readily available in sets with keys at most parts houses. The A/C , nine times out of 10 , is a leaking o-ring(s). Simple matter of taking a quick disconnect set and going through they system, replacing all the o-rings and trying a vacuum/recharge.

i think i had mine replaced in a matter of 10 minutes. the little flap that slides over the keyhole broke and was becoming a PITA.

that seat looks like someone who was sliding around on a garage floor sat in it. would have been nice if the guy told the mileage on the new engine too.

I can look at it sometime if you want... but it'll probably have to wait until next week at the earliest when I get back from BFest.

To do yourself I presume, not at a shop? Not much.

I think door key sets run $20 or $30. The o-rings are pennies, literally. Just pull your old ones out , take them into the parts house, buy the correct new ones by matching them up. You'll need a quick disconnect set. I think I paid like $20 for my last one.

Well this Z26 has been listed on autotrader for at least 6 months. It's listed for $2200. There are also a few diffrent pics of it. Looks like the whole car could use paint, and it could use a new front bumper, and fuse cover from what I can see from the pics, on top of the small issues you have mentioned. In my opinion the price is too high, I'd pay $1500 at most.

Since this is a sister car to mine (down to the year/color), I'll be able to keep an eye out for all the things I've had problems with over the years, not to mention the things others have had issues with and all that jazz.

Now the real question; do I show up in my Z26 to look at it or the Legacy GT? Hmm... lol
