BerettaFest 2012 - Denver, Colorado - Discussion Thread

Post by Styluss »

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Beretta Fest 2012, Denver Colorado proposal!
This thread has been created to discuss this proposal in any way you see fit, without bothering the mods for approval with every post.
*Note that the proposal is attached to this post as a Word document and contains numerous links*

Beretta Fest 2012: Denver, Colorado

Thursday:
12:00 - 4:00pm Hotel registration & check in
Take your coat off and stay a while!
Hotel & rates TBD

5:00 - 6:00pm Drive time
6:00 - 9:00pm Go Karts!
You want Karts? I got Karts! We have 5 Go Kart tracks to choose from ranging from indoor and outdoor to tame and friggin’ wild! Is 90mph six deep around a paved 1 mile outdoor course enough for you?
IMI Motorsports Complex, 'Nuff Said.

Friday:
Option 1 – Local, Track Rental Drag Racing – Note AM Timeline
8:30 – 9:00am Drive Time
9:00 – 3:00am Track Rental @ Bandimere Speedway
Please note this option relies heavily on funding. We will need to tie in with another car club or entity, or get a few event sponsors in order to be able to afford this. This makes it even more of a blast! Bandimere will provide a much more local and more professional track rather close to where we are staying. Plus, with a track rental we can see anywhere between 12 and 20 runs! With plenty of room for spectators and the like, we can all easily chill here during the racing.

10:00a - 8:00p Option 2 – Ditch the Drags All Together! Free Time
Please see the extensive list below for your many options. We can organize one or more group activities or simply let everyone run and play as they wish. Initial suggestions would be a longer cruise, perhaps a dyno day? Bar hopping on Blackout Block? Meet up with another club at Red Rocks? Both option 1 and option 3 will either flow into, or out of this option.

Option 3 – Long Distance Drag Racing
2:30 - 4:30pm Drive time *Mandatory departure time*
5:00 – 11:00pm Friday Night Drags @ PMP
Pueblo Motorsports Park was the host to the BFest Friday Night Drags in 2004 and it may host us again in 2012. The track is a 2 hour drive from the hotel, but it is the only track that isn’t just busy busy busy. The drive is a scenic and relaxing one with a 75mph speed limit most of the way. Traffic may be thick but it may break up. If we can’t afford option 1, you should see plenty of runs here…

Saturday:
11:00 - 3:00 Picnic and car show
Clement Park is located in the Front Range of Colorado and has plenty to offer any attendee. We will have our own picnic shelter and parking lot area for the car show. The area of the park that we will use for our event is right next to a main road, so we may even get a little attention for once!

5:30 - ??? Cruuuuuuuuuise!
Hit the hotel to wash off the car show and then let’s hit the streets! We can cruise from our hotel location up into the mountains for some scenery and into Beau Joe’s Pizza! Just ask Chad how delicious this only available in Colorado pizza can be! Feeling feisty? Order up “The Challenge” and see if you and one other person can eat a 12 – 14 pound pizza in under an hour. Um, I think not. From Beau Jo’s we can roll back down the mountain into Denver for a quick cruise through downtown before it gets too crazy with the weekend crowd. Then, out a bit on the highway for a final destination of the hotel. Get that car to breathe that thin mountain air! Looking at the list of all there is to do and see we could easily set up 2 or 3 more cruise routes as options, each with their own great stops.

Sunday:
10:00 - 12:00 Pack it up and hit the road!
I would be happy to help with an additional event or take everyone to an excellent breakfast place for a farewell meal. Sunrise Sunset is a breakfast that you simply have to eat to believe.

Beretta Fest 2011 A La Carte Activity Menu:
First of all, I am trying to organize an autocross just for our group! The more people that show the more fun it will be! This can easily slide into Saturday’s portion of the itinerary. Don’t worry; Autocross is no more wear and tear on your car then driving erratically down the highway. This is highly up in the air depending solely on getting a location rented.

What about a Junkyard Tour Cruise? We can hit three or four yards in the time we have, depending on what scores we find at each location. We will visit Pull and Save, 2 different U Pull and U Pay locations and Colorado Auto. We can even view the current inventory at the U Pull and U Pay locations online and decide if it is worth our time to visit them.

I present to you Tipsy's Liquor World, the largest liquor store in all of Colorado at 87,000 square feet! There’s also Applejack’s, the second largest! The official liquor stores of Beretta Fest 2012!

Want to test your luck at a mile hi? Blackhawk and Central City offer 10 casinos within 2 miles of each other! Shuttles are available if you have to drink off your losses.

Other attractions:
Downtown Denver – Everyone’s a mile high…
Club Auto - LeMay Auto Museum – An abundance of exotic cars for you to drool on.
Denver Microbrewery Tour – We have so many microbreweries, it’s not even funny.
Coors Brewery – Yeah, they brew this crap here.
Denver Zoo – The animals are high too!
Mt. Evans Road – Highest paved road in North America!
Beau Jo's Pizza – The BEST pizza in Colorado, just ask Chad’ tummy.
Red Rocks Amphitheatre – One sweet amphitheatre. So cool, people go there when there is not a show!
Water World – One of the biggest water parks in North America = fun.
Jump Street – A HUGE facility practically made of trampolines!
The Denver Art Museum – Yeah, we got a little class.
The Botanical Gardens – And plants!
The Butterfly Pavilion – And bugs!
The Denver Aquarium – And fish!!
Garden of the Gods – Oh man rocks too! A large park famous for the “Kissing Camels” rock formation.
The Denver Mint – One of only two US Mints, they make over 40 million coins… a day!
Elitch Gardens – Water Park and roller coasters.
Lakeside Amusement Park – I dare you to ride the “Wild Chipmunk”…
Lyons Classic Pinball – An arcade which solely consists of classic pinball machines.
The 1Up Bar – Classic Arcade games a’plenty await you at this retro-arcade bar.
Blackout Block – Dubbed so because it has about 15 bars in a three block area. ‘Nuff said.
The Eisenhower Tunnel – The highest automotive tunnel in the world!

The proposal is full of a lot to do and yes, a lot of free time. BFest seldom makes its way this far west so you might as well have all of the time you can get to explore the state. Everything on the itinerary is within an hour of the hotel save for the long distance drag racing. You can drive 15 minutes and see the foothills or 30 minutes and see the mountains. One hour will put you up and over the Continental Divide via the Eisenhower Tunnel. A little over an hour south puts you in Colorado Springs. Most all that is worth seeing in the state is within an hour and a half from the hotel!

If you have questions concerning anything about this proposal, post up or PM me!

All Hail Beretta Fest 2012 – Denver Colorado!!

I personally, am very excited about the possibility of renting Bandimere Speedway!

We'll get the whole place to ourselves, unless we team up with another club or two in order to afford the rental. Which I see no way around because the rental is pee-ryce-eee!! But if we can get some sponsors, donations, etc... We may be able to pull it off on our own.

I have one company I can ask to join / sponsor us. Plus I have some local peeps, Jene & GW included, that can hep with local fund raising.

Doesn't Jene work there? Anyway she could hook us up with a discount or something like that?

Already been discussed w/her. 8)

Mostly you meet friends when traveling by accident, like by sitting next to them on the train, or in a restaurant, or in a holding cell.

There is no such thing as a discount on a track rental. They have to staff the place, power it up, etc... AND still make money doing it. She can however help us with a possible private tour of the grounds, help with getting another local club to rent the track with us, maybe even secure a sponsor to help pay for it.

Zach...

Where the hell did you come from??!! There are so few of us in Colorado that TRULY give a damn about these cars.
I'm in Lakewood, perhaps we can hook up sometime?!

And seriously, half the fun of going to BFest is driving there! I'll be kinda bummed if Denver wins just because I wont have to drive anywhere!

I think we should have a Denver mini beretta meet a week from Sunday when I'm there :)
