Re: Project: Slideways z26
Yes because without that hose all of the coolant HAS to pass through the thermostat which is not how a stock system works. There are two loops that it can pass through to avoid the thermostat during warm up and allow air out of the system... For the 3x00's it's that pipe under the UIM, that goes directly back to the tree right at the pump, and the other is the heater core, that feeds right back to the tree as well. Only downfall for the above picture is the coolant loop on the 3x00 stock is from rear to front, this is front to front with the LIM reversed... so if you get air trapped in the rear of the heads you may not be able to get it out easily. Hence why I thought of finding a way to route that hose to the back of the engine like it is stock. it would also promote more coolant flow on the rear. Maybe tap the two rear head freeze plugs and T it back to one and up to that outlet or inlet, whichever it is.

I had to that with my truck because of the new style heads on the old SBC. Old heads had a coolant bypass built in that the new ones do not. You definitely want to be able to bypass the tstat.

None. Unless you count dragging it out of the yard to mow the grass under it.
I really hope to get work done on it this winter. Unfortunately I live an hour away from it and work even further away. Well see. Life is a bummer

Re: Project: Slideways z26
This is by far my favorite Beretta build. I've been researching something similar, but with C5 Corvette running gear.
Re: Project: Slideways z26
Well I finally got a few hours to work on the beretta! Its been too long!
I decided instead of running a thermorstat bypass that I would just gut a stock thermostat and use that. Its a track car I am not worried about warm up time or running too cool.
Serpentine system is 100% complete
Motor is re-assembled and all sealed up. Lost a valve cover gasket so Ill have ti find that...
Exhaust for motor is started. Still need to build a collector and buy flanges or band clamps so I can easilly take it apart for install. I am VERY worried how I will run this exhaust out the back of the car and still have ground clearence.
Had to block off egr to clear alternator. Probably should of done that years ago anyway.
Fuel lines will be custom.
For now Ill probably just mount the ICM on the intake like stock. Looks crappy but who cares its a drift car.
I am going to start on a wiring harness soon. Im gutting all the stock wiring from the beretta. Its a mess. I only need like 20 wires to run them motor and thats all I will use. I may even rewire the whole car. I want to make the engine harness simple and have 1 connector to remove it from the car. I have a feeling this motor will be coming out often.
Pictures coming
