Not hard on a car when the steering rack is not there... Thats what I'm curious on if that will be in the way or not and how much else will have to be moved, there is a heavy firewall to floor pan seem right there too that he'll have to cut through and reinforce somehow.

The plan is to use a BMW rack that mounts forward of the engine I assume.

Missed that on the first list, I guess it's a moot point then... Its just a matter of how well he does the cutting and reinforcing up front to fit the tunnel.

Yeah BMW rack but hoping to keep stock steering column.

Front suspension needs a lot of attention but I can only plan so much in my head. Gonna need to engineer the rest once the motor is out.

Random knowledge, out rear shock towers are actually 2 layers thick and pretty damn beefy. For fwd guys looking to do coilovers I would mount to them with only minor reinforcement

Researched fuel system rules on my lunch break today. They are way more relaxed than I thought with regards to bladders and foam. I want to build everything to formula D spec so I can pass tech inspection wherever I go.

Looks like I will get a 8 gallon steel fuel cell from summit, with a plastic bladder and safety foam. Then a good fuel filter and an inline walboro 255LPH. Its only 8 inches high, so I should be able to mount it under the trunk where the spare tire well was. This way I dont need to build a firewall between the driver compartment and the trunk. I need the space for tires anyway. 8 gallons should be enough for a day event I would hope.

Good stuff in there. Hopefully I can fit mine under the hood. Wont happen with a cross member type front suspesnion, but I have a good idea to get around that and make steering easier too.

Just had to register so I can tell you, awsome work. You literally read my mind about the 240sx rear subframe/suspension setup. I did own a 95 S14 with an RB20DET, still had an open diff, never got to crazy in it though. I sold it cause it just felt to small for me. I have a 95 GAGT turbo 3100 with a NVG 5-speed. I'm about to ditch the whole FWD setup now that I know the 240 rear will almost bolt right up. I scored a S13 rear, complete with shocks and springs for $150 today. I'm gonna have the diff welded and plan to start the conversion early in 2012. I plan to use the 240 front setup as well so that I can keep the track width the same as a 240 which I hope will allow me to get the turn angle needed so I can get the rear to slide for me.
Great work man, I hope we start seeing more of these conversions, you might be paving the way to something completely new..
Oh, and I hear you bout going to a drift event and being one of 100 240's, kinda sucks. Being different is always kool..

Started on shock tower. Going to need lots of work, it's the most critical part of the rear end.

Found some pipe flanges that almost fit the top hats. Gonna machine them down at work tomorrow
