Gtz is sputtering

Post by woody90gtz »

i think i have a clogged fuel injuector or maybe fuel filter. anyone agree?
it idles kinda rough, at about 1000rpms and its uusually idling at 13-1400. it almost sounds like a skip but i know thats not the problem.
when i get on the gas pedal (especially going up hill) it jerks pretty bad and has lost a lot of power. i added some fuel injuector cleaner, but ive only driven it 10-12 miles since ive done that and it seems better, but its still not right yet.
i was going to take it to NJ tomorrow to go to the NHRA event (about a 375 mi round trip) but i wanna know if it should get better as i drive it more. i think it should, but im not real experienced with cars yet... the gtz is my first

Not the coils, the housing its self, the plastic peice the coils are mounted in.  It is like the plug wires on the quad and tends to wear and short out.  If its never been changed, its a good place to start.

i think youre talking about the white "coil adapter" right? the plastic piece that attached to the IDI cover on the top of the motor... thats what i replaced a while ago. it acted alot the same, but i dont think it could be shot already.. maybe its a spark plug itself (just thinkin out loud)
i'll go check that out now...

the problem was the bad "plug wire". the plastic coil adapter that acts like the plug wires was the problem. for some reason the last one i replaced last year already died.
thanks to everybody that helped out. the beast is ready to go again

I have a '91 Beretta GT, I have a problem right now with the engine.  It runs great when you start it up.  After about 15 minutes of driving, it loses power, and there is a ticking sound coming from engine.  When I step on the gas, it revs high, but doesn't accelerate fast enough.  Could someone please help me.  I have replaced the spark plugs, iginition wires, crankshaft sensor, checked the tranny, it is fine (gave it a flush).  I've done all the basics.  Could it be the coils?

Yea, mine is doing the same thing.  I have a 95 base beretta with 174+ miles, and my rpms would be close to screaming and my car would'nt go as fast as it sounds,  anybody know anything about this?
