BerettaFest 2018 - Proposal for Colorado Springs, CO

Post by Stencil »

Colorado Springs, at an elevation of 6,035 ft., is a city in Colorado at the eastern foot of the Rocky Mountains. It lies near glacier-carved Pikes Peak, a landmark in Pike National Forest with hiking trails and a cog railway leading to its 14,114-ft. summit. The city's Garden of the Gods park features iconic red-sandstone formations and mountain views. It’s been voted one of the best places to visit in the country, and you’ll soon see why! Some people say "Colorado Bfest? So soon? We were just there!" - well, it will be 5 years since we graced the state with an L-Body invasion, and with this many cool things to do, I think it will be a grand ol' time!

NOTE: Dates for this proposal would be 6/28-7/1. Some of our members like to attend the annual GM Nationals in Carlisle, PA and that event is always held the weekend before which would be 6/21-6/24. Shifting our weekend would accommodate everyone to have the chance to attend BerettaFest

BerettaFest Colorado Springs Proposed Itinerary:

Wednesday, June 27th
7pm - Unnoffical BerettaFest annual Taco Night! (Kick off the weekend with the tastiest tacos this side of the rockies!)

Thursday, June 28th
10am-1pm - Check-in and registration at hotel
3:30pm - Meet at historic Cog Railway and enjoy an AMAZING 9 mile train ride to the top of Pikes Peak and back again! http://www.cograilway.com/along-the-route.asp Tickets are a reasonable $33 for adults and $19 for kids under 12.
7:30pm - Dinner at the Colorado Mountain Brewery! Great food and a huge selection of local Colorado micro brews. http://www.cmbrew.com/

Friday, June 29th
9am - Optional Early Risers Bonus - Trip to local junkyards for Rust Free parts! :)
11am- Drive down to Bishop's Castle! This amazing place that was built by one man, is nestled in the middle of a national park and is an incredible drive through the Colorado Mountains with may photo opportunities (this drive is even better than The Dragon in TN IMO!). Learn about the castle: http://www.bishopcastle.org/ See the route we'll take: http://www.tranzgenic.com/work/beretta/route.jpg
4pm - Friday Night Drag Racing at Pueblo Motorsports Park! It's on the way back from Bishop's Castle, and has plenty of facilities for those bold enough to race, and those who just want to cheer on everyone else! Racers are $25/30 (Bracket) and spectators are $8. Racing usually ends about 10pm and the track is about 45 minutes from the hotel.

Saturday, June 30th
10am - Leave hotel for Fox Run State Park in Black Forest
10:30 - 2pm - Picnic, CarShow, and Food!
2:30pm - Group Photo Shoot at Garden of the Gods National Park - this place is really amazing! https://youtu.be/w-1Dv75_aV0
4pm - Indoor Go-Kart racing at Overdrive! They even have exotic car driving experiences apparently - lets rent a Lambo! :) http://www.overdriveraceway.com/
7pm - Dinner at Fargo's Pizza - a Colorado Springs classic! (literally, people have moved here because of Fargos!) - http://www.fargospizza.com/

Sunday, July 1st
9am - Breakfast at King Chef Diner and goodbyes! http://www.cosdiner.com/ (this place is amazing! I recommend "The Grump"!)

There are many wonderful things to do in Colorado Springs, and the events may change a little depending on the schedules next summer, but I encourage you to check out http://www.visitcos.com/ for other things you may want to see while in town!
