I'm using the stock replacement which is the 180...  it works fine, as it's stock.  I haven't seen the 190, I would assume it's not a big big difference... it kind of depends on which temperature your cars runs the best at.  If you live in a cold area then the 190 will keep your heat a little warmer if that's an issue.

I know some people on here did a 160 thermostat mod, which keeps everything nice and cool, however your heat will suck in the winter, but it will (probably) run nicer in the summer. ÂÂÂ

Anyway 190 and 180... I wouldn't worry about the difference that much.  180 is stock.

Actually stock thermostat is 195.  The faq has the part numbers for the 180 replacement.  I run a 180.  Heat still works pretty well.  I run a 180 because i always believe the cooler you run your motor the less stress you put on it.

Other people say that you should run the stock 195 because fuel injection cars should run hotter to burn the fuel mixture better, or something like that.  I have noticed no to little gas milage change after I replaced the thermostat to a 180.

your car will run cooler, which is good for performance/engine life, and they're not hard to install. I don't think you will see much differance between the two thermo's from what i've seen with ben who runs a 160 and me who runs a 180....

When i had my Z26 i put a 180 on it in place of the 192/195 that comes stock, and i never had a problem with my heat, even below the freezing mark.  I didnt even notice it taking longer to heat up.  But it did cool the engine better in my opinion.  I would reccomend getting a 180.  However the problem i had with the 180 is finding it.  I coudlnt find one that any of the part stores said would fit.  But the 180 Stant from a 96+ Cavalier Z24 w/2.4L will fit perfectly and is what i bought for my Z26.

ok, i was looking at the hypertech chip and it said that in order to use it you'll need a 160 temp thermostat, to prevent detination, so obvisouly i'll need that but just wondering if anyone has the part number, i seen some one had the set of the thermo and chip from hypertech,     also 160 runs the car cooler rite? i got confused too many posts      thanks

My mistake, bad info tends to reproduce itself I guess... cause that's what I was told once.
