I just want to know what the difference is between the 2, what performance differences there are and also, if anyone on the site is good with making one or either of them, I want to get one made and sent to me.  I have a 3100, 95 Z.  I was thinking cold air is what I would want, thanx.

Cold air is the way to go, but difference is:

Cold air intake sits outside of the engine bay and sucks in cold air from outside, it goes usually down by the fender.

Ram air : sits in the bay and sucks in more air but its not as cold.

Cold air > ram air imo.

Please correct me if any of my facts are wrong since i am not the best at these lol.

Your right michael. The Short ram offers a little more performace than stock just because it flows better. But A true cold air intake flows better than stock and draws colder air.

So cold air is best.

Just try to get a real CAI, the rest of the air intakes are not so much good in my eyes.

This would be considered a ram air intake by most. This is what's on my '88 GT. A Cold Air Intake aka CAI would be extended into the fender, bumper or grill.

You guys are speaking of a warm air intake. That is what sits in the engine bay and sucks warm air.
Cold air intake is as stated above. Air taken from outside the engine bay.
Ram air is an intake that utilizes the air pressure created from the vehicle motion to increase static air pressure in the intake.

Correct, I should have said WAI. My bad. Ram Air is seen on TA's and Firebirds.

Wow, that is an old *** picture of my engine! But it is the best one I had handy to show the CAI.
The filter sits just below the headlight in the bumper.
This is a Tranzgenic. If you can find one... BUY IT. If not, you will be stuck making one from some other intake or pieces from an auto store.
