Okay, I got my plenum off, and it's definitely caked with carbon on the inside.  What's the best stuff to get that out of there? ...and what about the lower half?  Is there something I can spray in there to get rid of the crap in the lower half without fouling my plugs or messing something up?

Thanks!

BG products (www.bgprod.com) make an intake system cleaner which you use to clean the intake with the engine running, basically just spray it in, but you'll probabbly have to take it into a shop that has the equipment.

Or just try the "how to seafoam your car" thread made by fastlane.

GM also makes a top engine cleaner which is aerosol.

The plenum is off.  I want to clean it out before I put it back on.  I can use seafoam and wash it out?

Castrol Super Clean works great, but you can't leave it on too long or it'll start pitting the aluminum.  I used it to clean up my 3100 intake when I had to replace the gasket, it came out looking like it was new after a couple of soak and rinses.

go to the auto store, pick up some 2+2 carb and choke cleaner, that stuff is the **** at cleaning cunked up carbs and intakes, works good, allways did for me, its basicly starting fluid to, or you could use a good brand of starting fluid, that should also work. but if you ask me, take some 2+2 and spray it around in there, you'd be amazed at the difference it makes.
