another cold air intake question

I've seen the one styluss does and they look great. But, isn't there a better location for the filter? Would it not be better to route the piping so that the filter ends up behind the grille? I have an egg crate on my z26. to me, that just seems better then behind the headlight in the fender. Them again, if he designed it like that, I'm presumably wrong about my thoughts?

You would get a rain soaked filter doing that. I'm not sure what the limit is for a 3100, but too much intake tube length hurts the top end power alot. The Styluss intake is pretty long as is. Also you would have to take out the washer tank to make it all the way to the grille.
