96 camaro electronics being weird

Post by themadness »

the cd player(aftermarket) in my 96 camaro became possessed by the devil.....shutting off/on at random. all the wiring was good and it was making good contact at the face plate. i began noticing that when it would shut off the door locks and something behind the dash clicked through a sequence for about 10 secs. i put the factory unit back in to see if the cd player was just wonky since it was a little older. does that sound like something in the computer may be on its way out?

I doubt it's the computer; sounds like a convenience center or a relay.

I'm assuming you have retained accessory power? It's either a door switch, ACC relay, or a RAP module issue.

With my daughter's Beretta, the aftermarket CD player would go silent randomly
but the unit was still on.
It turned out to be a shorted speaker wire in the trunk.
The CD player has a circuit that protects the amplifier in case of a short
by shutting it down. Hers made no clicking that I remember but maybe you
have a short in the speaker wires? Something you could check.
