Still Lurking in the Shadows

Figured I'd stop in and see who was all still on here with their Berettas. I came across several old photos of my Base a few days ago and I was feeling sentimental lol. To date, that car is still the best vehicle I've ever owned. Its been almost 5 years since I sold it, but I think about it all the time. I haven't been able to hold onto vehicles very good since, I've went through 3 vehicles since last year. Now I'm driving my '98 Silverado and in the process of building a truck for the dunes out of my dad's old '88 Cheyenne. Just wanted to say hi to everyone.

PS: I'm a photo whore so here are my most recent rides.

2006 Impala SS: Sold with 238,000 miles

2012 Chevy Silverado: Sold with 28,000 miles

2007 Trailblazer SS: Sold with 142,000 miles

How about a redblock Volvo?

Good to hear you've still got a couple GMT400s! Can I ask, why move on from the 2012? At some point, probably 4-5 yrs from now I'll be in the market for a new truck to replace my Z71...and I was looking around those years. The body style is growing on me. Just didnt like the lag in the drive by wire...well - and the stupid autos.

I loved my '12, but I hated having a vehicle payment. Its more cost effective to put money in my '98. Its paid off and replacement parts are pretty cheap. That as well as the sentimental value of it make it an easy choice.

I've never had a car payment... and I plan on keeping it that way. :) Whatever I do buy I will pay for in full. :)

Amen. I have always done the same. And when the day comes to finally convert to an evil OBD2 vehicle, I guess I will see what the options are to tune out the lag in the DBW.

Normally that's what I usually do. With my black truck though, I wanted to upgrade to something newer and more reliable. Not possible to pay cash for a $30,000 truck lol. I began missing the old truck feeling.... ie. the creaky doors, dash rattles, and in general just the feel of it. I don't plan on buying a newer vehicle again for quite some time. Besides its more fun to keep the older vehicles running.

I guess that's my point then... I won't buy a 30k vehicle... LOL My legacy was 12k and that was paid for in full. Same with Amy's Forester which was only 8K when we got that.

Didn't really plan on it, but picked up a '98 GTP the other day to drive back and forth to work. Found it locally being sold by a woman in her 60's. She's owned it since '04 and driven it less than 50,000 miles since then. Its fully loaded with every option minus the moonroof and has 140,000 miles. I don't think its in too bad of shape for the year. It has normal dents and dings and Michigan rust, but no where near as bad as I've saw before. I just bought it to drive to keep the miles off my truck. Plans are to change the oil and supercharger oil, plugs, wire, new brakes all around, new front/rear struts and an alignment and then just normal maintainance.
