Not bad looking for 22-23 year old vehicles.
My 90s fleet consists of 2 96 Z26 Berettas, one 97 Saturn wagon, and a 94 Lumina mini van.
I think about what newer cars I might want to buy but then I find, many of them have problems.
So, I just keep fixing what I got.

Good I'm glad I'm not the only one with this madness.
I see it exactly the same as you. The only issue I cannot avoid, being a rust belt dweller, is rust. The blazer is about gone saddly, I have been driving it for 16yrs. Popular opinion seems to be that those were junk, but its been nothing but good to me.

Yep, dang rust never sleeps.
My 96 Z has rust coming through the rear quarter panel.
The second 96 has some creeping around the bumper covers.
I had to fix the sub-frame on the mini van awhile back.
Couple weeks ago had the rear brake line rust through on the Saturn.
But when I was a teen, it seemed anything near 100k miles and 10 years old wasn't on the street anymore.
But then they didn't cost $40,000 new.
BTW, your an electronics tech, so you know ohms law? Electronics is/was a hobby of mine.

91 Beretta and 94 Z71 here, as well as a mullet Camaro. Get them from down south so you don't have to worry about rust!

Yes, worked w/Ohms law a time or two. I work with a group of engineers designing PCB's for garage door openers and accessories.

I totally dig the Camaro, I want to spend some time going through your thread on it.

Fairwell to one of my '90s fleet

I'm resurrecting this thread since I have to send my awesome '93 GMC to the shredder. Damn. Miss it already, rowing the gears in the NV4500 with that torquey ol' TBI 350.

I was on my way home from work on Sept 24th, it had been raining and I guess I was taking the curve too fast. Hydroplaned and the ass end got loose, I tried correcting it gently but just couldn't get it back, boom rolled it over in to the ditch.

Once it finally stopped I was hanging upside down by the seat belt, unlatched it and got out fine, the back glass was shattered all over me but only a couple minor cuts. I didn't even have to go to the hospital.

Thanks to GM engineers for designing a truck 25 years ago tough enough to save my ass today.

Oh man, sorry you wrecked your truck.
The truck looked solid, not much rust that I can see.
But you weren't hurt so that is the most important thing.
Also, no ticket from the cops for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident?

It was, unbelievably solid for a Midwest truck. It spent most of it's life in Columbus Indiana, but I'd imagine that's still considered the rust belt.

I did get a ticket for failure to control. Didn't bother fighting that. I even got a bill from the local township for "traffic control", they had to shut a lane down while they flipped it right side up.

I work out in the middle of nowhere, so the 2 lane highway doesn't have the best drainage.

I didn't think I was doing anything nuts, but lesson learned: slow down in the rain.

Save that NV4500, they're hard to find!

I wanted to. I hadn't bothered to cancel the full coverage on the truck, I had a lien on it to pay for a new roof on my house.

I paid the loan off a couple months ago but it still had the full coverage when this happened.

State farm offered $3900 minus my $1k deductible, so I'm takin' it. Maybe it'll end up at pull a part. Had a new TO bearing snout, clutch kit and fork/pivot ball I just did less than 5k miles ago.

Wow... that's not much for such a clean truck. Ouch.

I know, but they won't take that in to consideration. They see it as a 25yr old truck with 211k miles.

Believe me I would love to fix it. It's just too effed though. The only panel that possibly could be reused is the passenger door, and I'm not even sure of that.

Cab, bed, door, front clip...It's just not feasible. Sux man, it was one of a kind.
Wish I woulda been more careful, that's for damn sure.

Glad it worked for you and we all hope it continues.
