Ok so it's stupid, will corrode, especially where you live, and it's illegal.

You can buy a "dump" for about $30 that you can open in about 3 minutes at the track.

Lil'Jon and I both have them and they work just fine.

I've read some mixed reviews on them.. But most people use them on summer-only cars.

I actually thought about running an actuator on a dump plate so I cant fault the idea

The ones from QTP are about $300 and when driven for a lot of miles, they start to leak. And even with the electric flapper, you still need to install a y-dump.

There are no parts, he's simply showing the Y-dump that has a cap on the end... rather than the $300 motorized one. 3 wing nuts and the occasional gasket is MUCH cheaper if you ask me.

Same setup as me, his is just angled up a little further.

Same section out of the car.

Mine was 500 in pipe installation costs, materials, bending, brackets, and welding... My muffler was like 88 and the cat was only about 55, and the cut outs are only $28

So total cost of my exhaust headers back (not including my flex piece since that came with the headers) was 670 or so. Its one piece of pipe from the back of the cat to the muffler, He did 3-4 parts going over the axle, then re-bent it so it was a straight shot.

Overpriced? Maybe, But when you can leave your car at the shop and not worry about some jackass taking it out for a joy ride and beating on it, its worth the extra few bux.

If I had the option of SS and Mandrel sure, but I think that would have sky rocketed the price, I would have also had to bring it to a more performance orientated shop since the place I went to doesn't do mandrel.

I'm doing fine with it being only coated with Black Velvet but then again this car doesn't see much rain and will never see winter so I doubt it will start rusting. Also being black hides the system better under the car when looking from behind. I have pics of when it was straight pipe you could see the bends going to the middle... now being black it doesn't show up much.

Mine was $150 for the pipe (2.5" press-bent aluminized), $50 for the 2.5" Catco, ~$50 for the braided flex and probably $50 for the cut out. The muffler and tips on mine came from Gerff used, so they were only $100. Grand total is somewhere around $400, if you dont included the flanges for the headers and new hangers that I added in later.

I will tell you though if you used aluminized steel pipe through the winter, it will rust... quickly. Mine has some pinhole leaks after only 2.5 years or so. I havent had time to remedy that yet, either.

Here's a pic that I took coming out of the Z, before I modified it to work with headers.
