I've been investigating a front brake swap and have a question about the N-Body swap. If I understand correctly, the N-body lug pattern is 5x115, correct? That being said, I'd need a new set of wheels. I've found tons of wheels that are dual pattern 5x100 and 5x114.3, but virtually none that are 5x100 and 5x115.

Am I missing something here? Those that have done the swap, are you using 5x115 wheels and adapters for the rear wheels?

I believe they are using 5x114.3 wheels on the 5x115 hubs. Camaro guys do the same with 5x120 wheels on 5x4-3/4 bolt pattern.

They should fit without much of a problem. The worse I've seen is having to force the wheels on initially but this usually doesn't affect anything negatively. I used to see tons of those dual pattern wheels when I was working as a tire changer and tons of guys swapping them between Grand Am's and Cavaliers around town. Lots of young kids wanting cool wheels and having to sell them off less than 2 months later.

When I do my N-Body brake swap, I luckily have an entire Malibu to take from and it has 15" aluminum wheels to go with it. I lucked out getting it for free because the interior is trashed and the 2.4 was locked completely solid. The rest is in pretty good shape.

it can go both ways with the 114.3 on a 115 bolt pattern. Sometimes people put a hubcentric ring on it to get the pressure off the studs since it fits, but the small discrepency (which doesn't seem like much) does make a difference. It's rolling the dice, some people have it on for years with no problems. Others have their studs break and or harsh vibrations as the bolt pattern will never 100% seat right since they're not the same.
I've always been a firm believer that get the right bolt pattern for what the car is meant for. Personally, I would never take a risk like that but then again lots of people have been doing it for years with no problems. Your call

114.3 is fine on 115.

Think of it this way. You have a .7mm difference between the 2. That mean each stud will flex inward approx .35mm. Now take a caliper or mic and set it to .35mm and see what it looks like. Its nothing to worry about. Most likely the play in the threads of the lug take up most of that .35mm so your hardly flexing the studs at all.

As always, hubcentric rings should be used. No matter what the bolt pattern.


I run 5x120.7 (chevy s10/camaro, etc) on my bmw 5x120 and ive never had a bolt break or feel anything weird.

That's funny...I think all of the 5x120 wheels I've seen on Camaros were from Bimmers. haha

That's what I'd like to know also..

Everything W and N body that I can find so far is a square bearing mounting point... At least the 5x115 versions of those bodies.

Change the rear end and shorten it if need be?
