I dropped my GTZ rims off for sand blasting. Cost me $35 for the set to be done. The rims originally were powder coated red from the factory. Member Highvoltage had them painted sublime green for his GTZ clone. The member that bought it from him painted them black. I traded a set of Z26 rims for them. I painted them Black Rose Metallic to match my '95 Z26. So there was a lot of paint to be removed. I plan to sand them down to a nice polish finish. Later they will be painted to match the custom paint job that is going on my GTZ.

Comparison. One on left not sanded. One on right has been sanded with 320 grit paper Keep going with a higher grit till I get the finish look I want. I will keep posting progress pictures as I go.

What color will that be?

The GTZ is getting a multi-color custom paint job. The paint scheme will carry onto the rims. Once the rims are painted. They will NEVER see the pavement. They will be strictly for car shows only.

Thats all I asked for them to remove. The inside will be painted black or white in the future.

I finished sanding on one of the rims. Started with 320 grit, then 600 grit, finished with 1000 grit. They are smooth enough for paint. I might get out a buffing wheel and really make them shine. Not sure.

That plan sounds good. I thought that 320 grit was best for painting and 1000 was only for buffing. Don't the larger scratches from the 320 give the paint more to hold on to?

I will have to rough them up a bit before painting. I just want a smooth finish till then.

Looks good, although I would have had them blast the back side of the rim. Since It would be seen with them on the car.

Just a personal chioce. If I put them on the GTZ before they are painted, I want them to look nice.

You have to admit. The GTZ factory rims by far are the coolest looking rims for a Beretta.
