Are there other Chevy rims that will fit on my vehicle? I tougth I read somewhere that you could use the rims from a GrandAm, for example. Is there a list somewhere of which rims will fit?

Depends on the year Grand Am, newer ones no... older yes.. Cavalier yes... Anything 5x100 bolt pattern with about a 38-42 offset should work

I'm going to have to look into this. My 15 inch AR wheels stick out a little and give me a wide stance, but the lugs are hard to get to. I was thinking about the newer Cavy wheels that are 16's and are 5 stars with slots in each. I need to find out what year they came on and what my back space is and what Cav's are.

These?

Yes they do fit, BUT they are only 16x6... All our rims are 15x7 and 16x7 for the aluminum ones... Cavi rims are much narrower... not the best of upgrades if you ask me.

Not sure on offset, I've seen 34-42 fits them, so it's similar to ours... I did up to a 35mm on mine and it was close, my current ones are 40

Yes, those are the ones. I thought they were 16x7 though. Well, I guess that's out. I did look into my wheels, they are 15x7, the offset is +35 and the backspace is 5 3/8. If I go with the same wheels in 16x7 it will be +40 offset and 5 1/2 backspace. Sounds like I'll keep looking. I want 16's to get smaller side walls, a wider tire and the fact that I can get them for much less money than the 15's. I'll have to work out the size to keep the speedo right. It's too bad about the Cavy wheels, I like the style and most after market wheels look ugly to me or they are black(my dark car is hard enough to see at night right now). Thanks for the info 3X00!

Where are you getting these "backspacing" numbers from? They are not necessary.

16x7 38mm offset Available in gunmetal or black $127 each http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direc ... wd=16&rw=7

or 16x7 40mm offset Graphite color. $100 each http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direc ... wd=16&rw=7

I got the numbers from a site that had my wheels(the AR site was down). Last I knew if you have too much backspace there will be rubbing when you turn the wheel.

You can measure with offset or backspacing, either is fine. Backspacing is easier to physically measure, offset is easier to figure out whether your wheel/tire will be centered in the wheel well.

Mine are 17x7"/40mm black wheels, and when I had them on my black car it was hit at night when parked on the street, so you do have a legitimate worry about that.
