Wheels not hub centric?

Post by 96B-Mike »

Hey guys I am looking to buy a set of rims (18x8 Rota Tarmac 3's) and it came off of a Subaru WRX which also has a bolt pattern of 5x100..but the center hub measures 56.1 when our hub measures 57.1?...will it cause any fitment issues? or no way it will work?

LMK ASAP PLZ :D

thank you

you have to use a caliper or some measuring tool to measure the Inner dimension of the wheel and outer dimension of the hub, the wheel should always be bigger and with aftermarket wheel you should always have hub centric rings to take up the space between the rim and hub to eliminate vibrations.

You could always have the bore made larger by 1mm if you had to.

yeah i didnt read that right, im not even sure hub centric rings come in 1mm, that would be .5mm per side, thats rather thin, so if you have 1mm of play than that should be fine

No, it's the other way around.. The wheels may need to be larger bore.

You have two choices then... Bore it out to fit, or get rims that fit properly.

Having hubcentric rings will not make the ride rough. If anything, not having them will decrease the ride quality more than anything. Hub rings and wheel adapters are not one in the same, and $100 to bore the set is effin cheap.

Thats the most ghetto way possible... You will not end up with hubcentric rims that way, you will now be centering off the studs. Nice way to create a vibration you can't find.

But you just did the modification now. With a drill and dremel bit of you can easily egg shape the hole and make any hubcentricity you have crap.
